Hey Guys.. Just went out and and had a great day with the new gun.. It is windy here at 10 to 20MPH.. But even with the wind I am super happy with the results.. I started yesturday doing a barrel break in with cheap cheap ammo.. I know, I know but it does not hurt if you try to break it in.. Anyways today I went for a few groups.. I shot a couple groups of 5 with the noname cheapy stuff.. I was kinda disapointed.. then I threw 10 rounds of Federal Gold Metal Match 168gr in it.. All I can say is Ammo makes all the differance;)


Scope, Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14x40
Deadnutz low scope mount
I opened up the stock at the barrel end to make sure it floats with the bipod.. super easy:)

I'm headin' out Sunday to shoot my reloads, 168 gr Matchking, 42.2 grains H-4895, Remington primer, Remington case. I've been shooting 150's and I'm zeroed in for that, looks like I need to dial my scope up 4 clicks = 2 inches at 200 yards, that should be close.:) I'm also shooting a Remmy 700 SPS tactical, nikon pro-staff 3-9x.:)

My matchgrade reloads cost me $7/box of 20 vs the $35-$40 you spent on the factory stuff.:neener:
 
Na, the federal GMM stuff can be bought for $24 online.. Reloading is the way to go though:) I will be investing sooner or later

I do not want to hyjack your thread, would you mind if I posted a pic of my grouping with Remington Core-Lokt 150 GR. at 100yds? Not as impressive as your grouping but I think the ammo had a lot to do with it, had to go with what i could find!

So very true , that is why Federal Gold Medal Match is loaded with match bullets. All my reloads are with Sierra or Berger match bullets. Nice shooting!
 
Here's mine :

She's a shooter, with factory Remington 150 grain Core-Lokt ammo, I'm getting 1-1.5" groups at 100 yards. Last weekend, my Core-Lokt reloads, 150 grain, delivered a 2" group at 200 yards.:) The potential of this rifle is very high, accuracy wise. My Core-Lokt reloads were pretty much just slapped together, delivered 2" at 200 yards. I can't wait to shoot my 168 gr Matchking loads, tommorrow.:)

Did you clearance your stock up where the barrel meets it? I did and noticed a little differance.. I used my air die grinder with a carbide burr and it cleaned it up real nice.. Now it does not touch on the bipod or bag
 
I'm not worried about it, if I can get .5" groups at 100 yards, or 1.5" at 200 yards, I'll be thrilled. I'm betting my matchking loads will do it.:)

Its all about finding what your gun likes.. I will do some experimenting to see what cheaper ammo this gun likes too, there will be something I am sure that will shoot better than the first target

Yea, it shoots good already.. But it took me maybe 5 minutes to make a noticable improvement
 
Once again this is from 100yds with Rem Core-Lokt 150gr, not to bad for my last 5 shot group, fired 40 rounds through it.
The orange bullseye is approx. 1.75", the last 2 shots are the ones out on the left in the orange, tried to move the group to center once I knew that it was consitant! Had to make some adjustments to the bipod to get it to be consistant, the rubber stock allowed it to move around a little until i got it tightened and adjusted right!

I assume you just removed some of the "rubber" from the forend? It does touch, barely, with the bipod and bag, I may need to give it a touch up with the dremmel
 
Looking good.. Yea that is just what I did.. From taking the stock off to putting it back on was about 5 minutes:D Just used my shop carbide burr cleaned it up real quick.. then ran a Dollar bill under the barrel with it on the bipod all the way back to the receiver to make sure it was clear..

It came out real Clean.. I thought it might chew up the rubber and look bad.. But it came out perfect.. Even took a second to make sure it was shaped nice and round still
 
I think I will do this today, I already adjusted my trigger, that was the only thing I wasn't happy with, took way to much to get it to break
 
Tell me about adjusting it.. I thought I saw a link on how to do it but cant find it.. I have searched but no luck yet.. Do you know where the link is?
 
I'm about to head to the range with my 155SMK and 175SMK loads. Mine is loving the 175's and I can usually get them to about 3/4". The thing that I thought was really hampering me was my trigger. Every time I shot my rifle on a bench and crept the trigger it felt like forever... I would eventually hit the brick wall and have to press a little harder to let it go.

I have since adjusted the trigger pull way down... Its VERY crisp now, and I am very excited to get to the range and see how this affects my groups.

Well I'm off... I will let you guys know how it goes. Also, I need to look into free floating the barrel.

My Trigger feels Fantastic other than being a little high on the pull. I am guessing 5lbs.. But it has Zero creep and no over travel.. I like it alot.. I am about to scrape the glue off mine as I speak and bring the pull down some..;)

where do you get your ammo from? is that .308 FGMM 168?
 
Just got done adjusting my trigger.. And man it does not get much easier than that.. Still as crisp as can be and way lower of a pull.. I too don't have a scale to check the before and after but I went as low as I wanted it to be.. Checked function and safety.. Re-glued the screw and now we are off to the races
