I spotted a 71/84 mauser on consignment at a local sporting goods store for $325. I have a good feeling I'm about to lose more money:eek:. but first, I'd like to ask a few questions.

first, Is this a good price on this gun. It's in pretty good shape considering its age. which brings me to my next question.

was this rifle ever reproduced ( say, by DWM for example) or is this rifle really over 120 years old.

And finally, should I even bother looking for ammo for this thing? Are there any companies that make dies and brass for it(11mm mauser). If not, I think I'm fine owning it as just a collectors piece.

Thanks for your time!!!

Condition is the determination of cost. We have had 3 in the last year that were in excellent shape from 90% to 99%++. They sold in the price range of $600-750.

The ammo is 43 Mauser cases are plentiful, cast bullets available. IMHO it is a handloading proposition. They do shoot sweet hitting the gong at 200 yards no problem.

When the gun is in shooting condition $350 is a great buy!!!!
