I was reading an article in the G&A Surplus Mag about the Mauser 71/84. I remmebered i saw them for sale at SOG.

I see that have a 71/84 rifle for $279.99. I looked at auction arms and cheapet one there was $400.

Are the SOG one the real deal or a cheap knock off?

Real deal, no replicas here.
I believe the rifles came from Ecuador but don't quote me here, they may be from Sudan or Yemen.
Bolts are mismatched on all guns but supposedly checked for headspace.
Mismatched parts on most guns.
Very dark bores, most approaching sewer pipe condition,But some good ones too.
Stocks are dinged and bruised and metal finish is, well, nonexistant.
Good jacketed 11mm bullets are near impossible to find as are gaschecks and these guns will lead quickly with plain lead bullets.
A custom mould, paper patching and custom dies may get one of these rifles to actually group but the money might well be spent on another project.

Our shop calls these guns "wallhangers" and we do sell them,,,,occasionally.
I wasn't aware that Southern Ohio had any of these rifles left in stock.

SOG web site list them and I think there flyer lists them as well. I have not called them and i know alot of times they are sold out when you call.

I bought one for $99 4 or 5 years ago.It was a pos.Dark, cracked oil soaked stock, rusty sewer pipe bore.Rust all over the outside.Mine had matching #'sI sent it back. These guns and the Commision 88 rifles that came in at the same time from Ecudor are waaaay overpriced at $279.
