Theys one here at tha BOSSES shop, believe ya wanta 695-700 ball an as much patch as ya can get fer TIGHT fit. He uses 115 grains usual, ya wanter TIGHT so's no recoil inertia pulls tha ball from the charge on yer second barrel.

Jus mark yer ramrod and check, way tha boss does it is fire ONE barrel 3-5 times, ifin the ball or bullet in tha other barrel dont move, he dont fret it none.

Thanks edggy, I have a .69 caliber Springfield rifled musket, so the step up in ball size is not that much,I just hope it shoots well. I wonder if I can use it here in Ohio for deer season, I'll have to check to see if it's legal.

One of my favorite Gahan Wilson cartooons has this couple standing in the middle of a street in Manhattan ( had to be manhattan from the buildings) Behind them was a gigantic pacyderm 100 pounds to a side laying dead. the husband is holding his open double rifle up and squinting into the chambers. the wife goes,

I use a .715" Rb patched with .010" linen over 130 gr of FFg. No problem with the ball in the second barrel slipping. But check whatever load you decide to use by firing the first barrel several times and check for slippage. Don't forget to uncap the barrel that you are checking for slippage first, don't want to see you in the obituary column.
Must work for Rhinos here also as there are none in Oregon. Oregon doesn't allow double barrel rifles for muzzle-loader hunts, however! We do have plenty of opportunities during general rifle season.

That's correct, I called ODNR and was told as long as there is only one ball per barrel, it was legal. I still have not had a chance to shoot the darn thing yet, due to a heavy work schedule.
I think i'm pretty well covered for any beast that roams Ohio, be it deer, big foot, or the return of the mastodons or wolly mammoth.
