I gave my 700 in 243 to my Grandson and have been thinking of a replacement. I was considering doing a build. I just saw a Remington 783 in 6.5 Creedmore for $325. I am not a big fan of 6.5 Creedmore but I am warming up to it. It comes with a scope that probably is worthless but I have one waiting to be mounted. Depending on how it shoots it would be a back-up rifle, or maybe something to build on. So opinions please. 783 a decent hunting rifle, does it have potential to shoot cloverleafs with maybe a new barrel and minor work? I know Loonwolf has reworked one.
