I've been shooting the 7MM-08 since around 1986. It is an outstanding deer rifle and I have taken two Pennsylvania black bear with this round as well. The Remmington 140 Grain pointed soft point will do an excellant job if you are after accuracy and excellant knock down results on deer. Stay away from shoulder shots because the front end of a deer will wind up with meat that is blasted purple, so to speak. Stick with one brand of ammo when you have your rifle sighted in. I own a Ruger and a Savage in 7MM-08. I have shot deer with the 30-06, 308, 270 and have hade deer not stay down at the first shot and while using the 7MM-08 I have not had one deer EVER get back up after the first shot. The 7MM-08 is an outstanding deer cartridge.
