I'd say that it would be similar to the .300 mag which many people cliaim to be 1200 yards or so. Of course the shooter would have to do their part and it would have to be with a very good rifle to hit a reasonable sized target. It seems to me that in many cartrages, the max range is around where the round goes subsonic (in the ballpark of 1200 fps).
As far as a practical hunting range, it depends on what you're shooting at and how good the shooter is. In my case with a .300, the absolute furthest I'd shoot while hunting is 400 yards, under less than Ideal conditions, I'd limit myself more. I know from practice, the gun shoots accurately at longer distances, but things like range and wind estimation make the first few shots more trial and error, not good for hunting.
