I am looking for a good factory load in 7mm Rem mag for hogs in excess of 500 lbs.I don't reload and have only used 150 grn soft points on one deer.It was a broadside shot and the bullit didn't exit.I even found one small piece under the skin near the rear hoof and it was a chest shot.Deer was DRT but it makes me wonder if it is a good choice for big Hogs.

I could also use a 270.I know either one will kill a hog but what would you choose for really big hogs?

Sorry,I ment to post this in hunting.

Hornady SUPERFORMANCE Ammunition 7mm Remington Magnum 162 Grain SST would be my choice for the 7mm but really I'd feel happy with the 270 too using the 140 grain stuff. If you're worried take a neck or head shot. The armor plate can be very thick on a big boar. Make sure you know where the vitals are on a boar (think shoulder shot).

I would use the 270 with cheap Winchester Power Points and aim right for the neckbone. Below and behind the ear.

I agree with Abel's shot placement recommendation. No kicking, no squealing. Switch = OFF.

i wouldnt worry about it. Dead is dead and you cant really judge a bullets performance by one case. Personaly i sure wouldnt feel undergunned for pigs with a 140 gain cup and core bullet. Ive shot them with alot of combos that werent near that deadly.
