87 Ruger Super Blackhawk 44

I love my SBHs, especially with 44 special loads. I really can't handle the big boy loads anymore. Even with a wrist brace the pain afterwards just isn't worth it.

I had a 7½" stainless SBH for a few years

No matter how much I tried, I just couldn't bring myself to like that length barrel.

I know if it would have been a 5½" I'd still have it.

Nice gun!

Nice pickup . The 5.5” is my favorite Ruger SA barrel length, I think it provides the nicest combination of sight radius, handgun velocity and on-the-hip portability. But, for whatever reasons out of 9 Ruger SA revolvers that I have in the safe, only one is a 5.5”. o_O

Those 300 gr SWC bullets will be punching straight through a hog if they are moving at a magnum clip, you shouldn’t have any trouble anchoring pigs with solid hits. :) I don’t have a SBH .44, but the 4 5/8” .45 Colts and 6.5” .41 Mag I own can bring some similar heat when stoutly loaded.

Let us know how it shoots for you when you get a chance to test out those loads.

Stay safe.

I have never hunted hogs but it has seen quite a few Whitetail hunts. You will really enjoy the strength, simplicity and accuracy! Nice pickup. I am not up in the price of these but worth what you paid for sure in my mind. It loves 240 XTPs in the woods and 255 Grain Keith 429421 loads at the range. Bowling pins don’t stand a chance at 50 yards.
