This is my Wilson Combat/Scattergun Technologies Remington 870 Border Patrol 12 gauge shotgun. For those who dont know, this is a quality high end shotgun. Internals completely worked over. The action is smooth as butter! I have never felt an action smoother than Wilson's. Ghost ring sights with tritium insert, Mesa tactical side saddle, big head safety, extended mag with sling mount, smoothed out trigger, and armor tuff coating on the entire gun........all come standard on this model. I repaced the furniture with Magpul FDE furniture. MUCH more comfortable. This shotgun is amazing! Balanced perfectly, handles like a short barreled shotgun and shoots awesome! They are not cheap, but in my opinion worth it. Wilson Combat perfection.

Nice gun sarge. Can't speak much about Wilson Combat shotguns but I have a similar set up. I like the magpul furniture. Some don't care for the forend but I like it just fine. The adjustable stock is a big plus too. I even thought about setting mine up as a trap gun for a while as the stock lends itself to just about any preference.

They do great work. However, you are wrong about any reworking of the trigger. They only way to control a Remington shotgun trigger is by the weight of the sear spring and your gun has the same sear that came from the factory with it. Anyone who claims to do a trigger job on a Remington shotgun is a wrong headed and anyone who charges money to do that is a thief. Bill Wilson is no thief and if you read the web site there is no claim of any trigger job, nor is there on Night Hawk, Vang Comp or on my guns. Only one company makes such a claim and they rip you off by adding some after market parts that accomplish nothing what so ever. Also there are no internal parts to worked over and your gun has the exact same internal parts as any 870 because the platform is that good.

Wilson shotguns are being used in Law Enforcement all over this country and are duty quality and fit any mission. They do not make any claims such as you have nor do they need to as the base gun they build on is quality enough. I salute Wilson Combat, Vang Comp and Night Hawk for being honest businesses and not participating in any deceptive marketing like others out there have. Where I would not take their guns to fight simply because of the peep sights on them I would have no issue taking any gun the built, removing the rear sight, changing to a bead sight barrel and going to war with it.

+! ! The 870 has the simplest trigger job ever; pop that new spring in, done! I've done it on all mine over the years, and many others. Like you, AI&P, I prefer beads. My 870 Tactical Magnum is stock, except I put my old SpeedFeed III on it instead of the IV, and the sear spring.

Very nice Sgt. Rock!

Sappyg, do you know the reason why some don't like the forend? Does the Magpul forend cover or in any way obstruct access to loading the magazine tube or the shell latches?

I waited too long to book that course. :(

But I would have wanted him to train me on a Benelli anyway, so...

I think I recall nutnfancy comment that he thought it was too slick. Personally I haven't noticed that but I normally don't wear gloves when I shoot. The gun practically shucks itself.
The stock has never interfered with loading or unloading and I've ran it just about anyway one might need to run a gun like this.
My gun is a plain Jane 870 express. Certainly not up to Wilson combat standards but it is slick as a baby's butt.

I'm intrigued by the magpul Buttstock, but as for the forend, nah. I have used a few different forends on my Mossberg 500 over the 20yrs I've owned it. I can't imagine changing from the Hogue overmold forend I'm using now. I love the feel and solid grip.
With this Mossberg 500, which I bought well used for $75, I've experimented with different configurations. At one time, I got a very good deal on a 20" barrel and eight shot tube. I ran it that way for a year, and found I missed the short, handy 18 inch tube. The 2" longer barrel and mag tube definitely was a little clumsier in the house, so I put it back the way it was.

Thanks Sappyg.I think Nutnfancy can occasionally be to nit-picky. If its to slick, that could be easily fixed with a soldering iron and a stippling point.
