So my fine friends, there's potentially a new pony coming to the stable soon (don't wanna say too much too soon and jinx anything) this will primarily be a hunting weapon so coyote or larger targets to a max of 600 yds, I'm a sucker for ffp and 16x magnification on anything over 3-500 yds, but will also see closer range work as well, I know there are several options currently on my radar, but curious if there's anything I'm missing that I shouldn't overlook so I'd like to see everything that y'all throw out there and narrow it down later. Last requirement, side focus is requisite.

GA Precision has Bushnell DMR II 3.5-21x G3 reticle FFP’s PLUS a Kestrel 5700 Sportsman (with Applied Ballistics ballistics calculator and Link/Bluetooth) in a package deal for $960. Buy the kit, sell the Kestrel in a day for $250 (assuming you don’t need it), and you’re into what was a $1500 optic for $710 - absolutely can’t complain about that.

Holding them side by side, the Bushnell DMR II blows the Burris XTR II out of the water for clarity, resolution, brightness, adjustment feel, and has a better reticle (G3 vs. SCR-Mil). Brighter and better resolution than Vortex Viper PST.

Good choice. I like the Bushnell stuff, have some of their optics, and should have added the DMR II to my list.

That being said, I have shot behind them all, and I have the XTR II. I'll give several points to the DMR for the reticle, but it's a bit heavier, and I don't find the glass to be any better than the Burris.

@MarshallDodge - I don’t have much tolerance for aberration, and the Burris I have (won at a match), is rough. It’s better than most scopes at lower price points, not a bad scope, but when I need to resolve mirage at range, the difference in the Bushnell and the Burris is clear for me, literally.

I actually needed a Kestrel, and an extra scope of that price/quality will come in handy. It will be a step up from the Forge I have. I shant be murdered, but will be broke for a time.
Id have risked it, if I had a justifiable use for either.
Its a screaming deal, which is nearly impossible for me to resist. Tho, i do need an optic for the .300 i agreed to buy....I wonder if it will come around again.
I also wonder how much of a difference the ED glass on the pro version makes.

I ordered another XRS II + Kestrel in this run from GAP, $1360. In a series of unfortunate events, or maybe fortunate, one employee opened the scope box to cut out some foam and make room for the kestrel within the Bushnell box (and some other Bushnell swag), and taped it back shut rather inconspicuously. Subsequently, the guy packing the shipping box noted I’d ordered a scope with a Kestrel, and stuck one in the box within the protective paper. So arriving at my house, during a time of limited staffing, high shipping demand, and low mobility (as I usually shoot a match with someone from GAP about every other weekend), I ended up with two Kestrels included with my order instead of one... but I already had one... the official response when I texted GAP to let them know of the mix up was, “sigh....” I bought the kit with the intent to sell the Kestrel to reduce my total cost into the scope, but the risk of bad karma to follow profiting from selling an accidental mis-ship during unfortunate times is enough to convince me to hold onto the extra, either give it back when doors reopen or simply take comfort in owning a spare.

It's on a 6MM Creedmoor, and so far so good. No complaints. Not many rounds down the pipe yet. For anyone who got them on sale they got a good scope for the money IMHO.
