I recently had a chance to try out a friend's Beretta 92FS VERTEC and was quite impressed. I had never before even handled this style of the classic 92FS when I was given a chance to fire a complete 15rd mag. All in the black (4") at 10-12 yards, which is quite impressive seeing as how I am admittedly pretty rusty with pistols. I did have one main question though. Is the VERTEC series of Beretta's the only type that have a straight grip?

\Yes, the Vertec was discontinued a while back, but you can still fin d them sometimes.

But yea, the 90-Two comes with a regular grip, but you can order the "thin" grip from them, which makes the grip just like a Vertec grip. The grip is like $20.

Beautiful pistols. One of the softest shooting pistols I own. The grip is just the right size for my hand. It has a pretty nice trigger. A most impressive gun. The first time I shot it .. I smiled :D

good to hear, I just put a 96 (.40) stainless vertec from buds on layaway today...mainly wanted it for the lower/frame as I have a pretty sick 92 upper that'll be going on it when it gets here.

never even held one before, but since the 92 fits my hand just fine and I do want a .40 to add to the collection, it seemed like a great deal. glad you enjoyed your time with one..

Id compare the Vertec grip to a CZ, maybe a little smaller. The internal dimensions of regualr 92/96 and Vertec mag wells are the same, so the 40S&W mags fit in the 9mm well and vice-versa. If you want to lighten up the trigger, replace your mainspring with a "D" mainspring from the 92D or 96D models. It'll take 2-3lbs off the DA trigger and 1-2lbs of the SA trigger. Brownells is back ordered but has them for $1.55

Heres a vide for removing it and then reassembling it.
