9mm Ammo Suggestions for CZ75B

Will be picking up a new 75B soon and will mainly use it to punch paper and hit steel at
a local range. I'm looking to stock up on ammo before the CA internet/mail order death knell
hits in January. Black Friday deals will help here.

Any recommendations for standard and lighter recoil loads? Thanks in advance.
 
CZ-75B -- About the only ammo I recall not being recommended is aluminum cased, and I remember when I first got mine it didn't like them. I'd stick with any brass cased standard or +P ammo. I personally favor 124 grain. I can't really offer anything for lighter loads, but in standard pressure I like Geco.
 
My go-to in the past has been Freedom Munitions. My last few orders have been significantly slow to ship, so just be aware of that if you order from them. If you can catch one of their free shipping deals their prices are hard to beat.

SportsmansGuide and Palmetto State Armory are my other main sources depending on their sales. SportsmansGuide you can usually get free shipping over a certain amount (typically around $50), and PSA you can sometimes get free shipping if you buy in quantities on certain products, but even if you can't I've found their shipping charges to be pretty reasonable.

Mine doesn't seem to care for aluminum cased ammo, and I've heard others that indicate steel-cased ammo isn't a great choice either.
 
Absolutely the only thing I've ever had an issue with in my PCR was stuff that's too nose-heavy, and then it was just because it was so much so that it was wedging on the rifling. I've only encountered that in my handloaded cast rounds.
I never tried any steel or aluminum-cased ammo (I reloaded) so I can't say there. But if other people are complaining about it, stay with brass cases.
And with the reliability I've been used to, I wouldn't be afraid of any of it. So grab whatever you can get the most of.

I would buy some good SD ammo while you can. Federal HST and Speer Gold Dot are my choices, or whatever else you put your faith in.

I have four 75-based guns, have shot a wide range of ammo in them, and have never had a single malfunction EXCEPT from one of the magazines that came with the P-01. That mag apparently had a deformed lip or something because it would consistently mis-feed when used in either the P-01 or the PCR.

I've done accuracy testing with 115 grain and 124 grain in Blazer Brass, Speer Lawman, GECO (my overall favorite 9mm and 45 ACP ammo), Perfecta, Winchester, Sellier & Bellot, Speer Gold Dot, and a few others. I haven't found a big difference in any of them in terms of accuracy, but the 124 grain might, possibly, be slightly more accurate than the 115 grain. Not sure, though.

The S&B was definitely the dirtiest of them all, leaving a lot of what looked like not-completely-burned powder flakes inside the action.

I have a few 75's. They can handle pretty much anything, IME. I found mine did very well with Federal brown 115 box from Walmart and so I sighted them in with that because it is readily available and accurate in those guns. Blazer 115 worked well. Geco worked great but grouped a bit off to one side. Speer 115 was fine but grouped higher than Federal.

I would say if the gun has fixed sights, check out a few brands and find what shoots well at the distances you shoot and then go with it.

My 9mm works with any ammo. My 40 had major problems with Winchester White Box.
Had to get an extra strength extractor spring from Wolf and the problem was solved.
 
I recently tried 115gr FMJ made by Geco. Worked really well, clean, and economically priced. So I ordered some 124gr Geco from Midsouth Shooters Supply.
 
Some CZ pistols seem to have very short throats, with the ability to have certain profiles jam in the lands. Conical, heavy bullets with a sharp shoulder seem to have given the most frequent problems.
 
I have both a CZ75B and the compact version. They have handled any and all ammo that I have put through them. I don't buy steel cased ammo though, so I haven't tried that.
 
I have a CZ-75 transitional and I carry Speer 124 grain Gold Dot hollow points. For range use, I’ve shot just about everything there is. I’ve never had any issues with any ammo.
 
Federal American Eagle has a 25% mail in rebate. A few weeks ago bought a case of 9mm from sgammo.com for $189 plus $16 shipping and then got a $47 rebate.
 
And I like the 147 gr 9mm American Eagle the best. Recoil is more like a pleasant push than a snap. Accuracy is good too.
 
All- Thanks for the replies and suggestions! I'll try a variety of different mfrs., but may avoid the
aluminum cased ones. The BF Deals next week may help with the decision process.
 
I've only bought ammo online once, but I got it from SGammo in a very smooth transaction. Blazer Brass 124 grain. The one thing to remember about SGAmmo is that they don't have a phone number. All correspondence is by email. Nonetheless, I did not have any reason to call them about my order.
 
Last weekend I shot 200 rounds of Fed Champion aluminum case ammo from my 75B and it was reliable & super accurate with it. Although next time I’ll probably shoot the brass cased Fed Champion.
 
All my CZ type guns eat anything I've put in them. I haven't put any aluminum stuff in it, but I have shot some steel.
