What would make a good looking and not too expensive (around $1000 or a little less) 9mm BBQ gun and holster set. I've been thinking Browning HiPower and an El Paso Tom Threepersons holster. I definitely want a gun with a quality blued or brushed stainless finish. Absolutely nothing "tacticool". This gun would be carrying a little, shot a little and looked at a lot. :D

Is this for open carry at a BBQ or something?

Perhaps you are carrying for the wrong reason if you are that concerned about looks. Just get a pistol you can shoot well and carry it. Looks are secondary.

bbq gun is a show off gun.... lets start with that to avoid confusion.. it isnt a gun that is meant to be carried for any practical purpose other than to show it off.... IE... engraving, inlays, and highly polished.... ETC..

I firmly believe a 9mm BBQ gun will have to be either a BHP or a 1911. That is just how it is. You may be able to get by with a highly polished Beretta 92. Maybe.

Just stick with the HP.

The HP with the polished chrome finish or the Renaissance model.

Something like this would be a start.

Browning and FN both offered limited runs of some super shiny and inlaid guns. Some of which are pretty gaudy but would make for a great BBQ gun.

Speculation!:D My engraved Colt has won a local combat match, and a beautiful trophy. I carry it when it suits, but it goes to BBQ's, too. All of my "pretty" guns get carried. Life is too short to leave them in a vault.

My choice would be an HK P7 in Brushed Hard Chrome with a set of wooden grips, but I have a soft spot for European handguns.

That being said, as of late my BBQ gun is usually a hand-polished S&W Model 65 3-inch, but that discussion belongs in the Revolver section. ;)

In 9x19mm...

First choice: H&K P7M8 with NP3 finish and Nill grips. :D

Second choice: Browning High Power Standard 75th Anniversary.

Third choice: DaeWoo DP51 with NP3 finish. Because people will be suprised to find out that DaeWoo has been making firearms longer than they've been making cars and electronics. :neener:

My choice would be this little Kahr MK9 Elite. The little gun is small, elegant, and a great shooter if the need arises; just right for social events. ;)

how about a Springfield Armory EMP

if you don't like the Coco Bolo, i'd add a set of G10 "Horned Lizard" or AlumaGrips.

you could pack it in a elephant of elephant trimmed holster

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I simply want a nice looking, good shooter in 9mm. I am leaning towards a blued HiPower with custom wood grips. A 9mm on the 1911 frame would work too. Something the size of a Commander. I have read a lot of great stuff about the CZ's and the 75b Limited Edition would probably be OK. I have several "practical' handguns that are great for handgun hunting or self-defense if necessary. The only thing that I carry regularly is a Ruger Mark II when I walking or working on my acreage. In my situation I don't see the need for concealed carry or open carry unless I am hiking or hunting in isolated areas.

In my part of the country we really don't carry at BBQ's. I guess that I just want to show off a bit at the range. :D

Pure silliness. Just take the money and pin it to your belt loop.

+1 more on the CZ 75 in satin nickle. Just plain sexy, and can do cocked and lock so you fit in with the 1911s
