I went to the range/gun store today with my wife and we decided that my Kel Tec Sub 2000 just isn't for us. On the way out I asked the salesman about 9mm carbines and wound up leaving with a great deal on a new CZ Skorpion carbine.

I really like the way it handles. Feels well balanced, good ergonomics. I like the placement of the charging handle on the left hand guard, similar to a FAL. The mag release and safety are both ambidextrous. The mag release is on the trigger guard for quick changes. The top has a rail and hand guard has m lok attachment points. Also has attachment points for a sling. Came with two 20 round mags and I checked the website and confirmed that extras are only about $20. The stock has 3 adjustable lengths and folds to the right for easier storage.

We only caught the last 10 minutes of range time so we only able to shoot 50 rounds but I was highly impressed. Crisp trigger, almost no recoil and quick follow up shots. 50 rounds went by pretty quick.

In the target all shots were standing off hand at about 10 meters. The ragged group on the left was the first 10. Michael is 12.

Even though we got a good deal, because of the price i wouldn't have really considered buying it, my wife had to talk me into to it. But now that I have one, it's so much fun to shoot I'm going to stay busy on the Hornady LNL trying to feed it. Need to head over to RMR.

Pictures of the carbine itself later

I bought one recently and love it except for one thing, and that is that the safety gouges the crap out of my trigger finger. I remedied that with a Dremel tool, then found some nice aftermarket levers from Parker Mountain Machine. So I got them.

I also mounted a red dot on it, and it is a tack driver.

I also got two 30 rd mags.

LOL Jackal, ya but if you do that you'll have one sweet ride. The trigger also sucks on it, but even with the lousy trigger, after I mounted the red dot, a cheap Romeo that I took off of my M400, a 20 Rd mag produced one hole groups at 15yds.

I luv mine too ... Pics of my groups today at the range ... 7e34a2d247e12c34c9d2cb8287ff87f4.jpg e8c61b6d91c7df49c175e56642938e40.jpg

I talked my LGS out of mine for $869.00. They are relatively expensive but seem to be well made, easy to maintain and quite accurate. The poorly designed safety levers and heavy trigger are the only downsides, and as I said above, the safety lever is an easy fix one way or the other.

There are a bunch of aftermarket parts now, including about 5 different safety replacements ranging from the "safety delete" from CZ-USA to the AK style from HB Industries to the bobbed safety lever from Manticore Arms. I, however, did my 'safety delete" with a hacksaw. :) As seen here, if you look closely.

I haven't tried any aftermarket trigger fixes yet, maybe someday, but mine works just fine, a little heavy, but it's been getting smoother with time. Seems to be a CZ thing with triggers - they can start off heavy and rough and smooth up to glass.

Mine is as fun as fun can be, great gun and works well for hacienda defense.

The HBIndustries trigger spring kit really helps out the trigger. Mine went from an atrocious 9lb pull to just over 5 with the spring kit and at $9, it's hard to go wrong.

HBI also sells the carbide drill to remove the welded collar on the "world legal" trigger packs that CZ has shipped in all the recent Scorpions.
wish they had set it up so you could use an AR grip instead of the way they have it.
There is a growing aftermarket for these things. Grips, selectors, charging handles, muzzle devices, handguards, etc are being offered and more developed. Although I don't know of an AR-like grip, there are a few offerings for those who do not like the standard CZ grip.

CZ Custom was working on an AR grip adapter, haven't heard anything on it in a while. YetiWurkz did have some very nice replacement pistol grips out, look into those. :)

Last week I picked up a CZ Scorpion EVO 3 Carbine. The only other carbine I have is a Marlin 38/357 lever. I've wanted a 9mm carbine for a long time but something else was always on the table.

The same day I bought this I ordered some upgrades. First was the Holosun 515C red dot. 50,000 hour run time when using the solar option and 20,000 on battery. It came with a kill flash, flip caps, two options for height mounting and quick disconnect. Initial impression, the dot and circle are very crisp.

Next I hit up the HB Industries website and ordered the Theta forward trigger, spring kit, hardware kit and right side safety delete. First thing I notice is my finger has plenty of purchase on the trigger and being set forward it's in a much better position. The stock trigger felt set back to far to be comfortable. More importantly the trigger is set to a much lighter pull and very smooth.

Other plan is I'm looking in to a set of QD mounts and sling but will further research that later today. I know I want a combo 2 point 1 point.
