9mm bullet help

Don't count me in as a fan of the PD FMJ bullets for accuracy. I've gotten batches with mixed ogives and the bases aren't consistent in comparison to Zero.

If I had to shoot FMJ, I'd pick Zero over PD every time. However, their JHPs are much more consistent.

Well here they are my very first 9mm reloads. They are rmr 124 gr rntp with 4.3 gr wst at 1.16 oal. So we will see well they shoot tomorrow. Just wanted to thank bds for the input and also rmr for the fast shipping .

range report

Well they did pretty good. Wish I would of got pics but didn't . I would roughly say that I had a good 1" group at 10 yrds but when moved out to 25 yds they spread out pretty good. The one thing that really suprised me was that the rounds where on the light side . Didn't have much recoil at all and the cases maybe ejected about 2 ft away. I'm wondering if I shouldn't go up another .2 or .3 grains . They all cycled fine though

I am continuing my load development with WST and so far tested 4.0/4.2 gr at 1.160" and 4.3 gr at 1.165"/1.168" OAL.

Even at 1.160" OAL, 4.2/4.3 gr were compressed loads. Instead of increasing powder charge higher than 4.3 gr, I would suggest you try shorter OAL of 1.155"/1.150" to increase neck tension and initial chamber pressure build up. Some match shooters shot 124 gr FMJ with 4.3 gr at 1.140" and I plan to stop my testing at 4.3 gr but test shorter OAL in future range tests.

I will be packing and moving this month so my range test will have to wait until December.

Keep us posted and I will be following how your testing goes.

Ok this week's update . I took the advice from bds and squeezed the bullet down to 1.150
All I have to say is WOW what a difference . I think I found the perfect recipe. Well for my gun anyways . So it's 124 gr tprn from rmr with 4.3 gr of wst and set at 1.150" . I wish I would have took a pic of the target when I was done but at 25 yds I bet it wasn't over a 2" group and that's with 24 shots. Great recoil great ejection now I want a chrono to see what speed I'm getting just because I would like to know . Thank you bds for all the great input to bad this was the last week of leagues until January. My team went undefeated guess it gives me some time to fine tune it
