What kind of accuracy are you typically getting out of your 9mm carbines?

Please include ammo brand and type, distance, number of shots per group, and what kind of carbine.

Thanks!

I would not expect much in the way of replies given most don't shoot pistol caliber rifles for groups. I've been planning on seeing what my HK UMP conversion can do at 100 yards but every time i go to mount a magnified optic on it i just feel silly.

I routinely shoot clay pigeons on the 100 yard berm with my RRA 9MM AR. Easy peasy. Jacketed and plated.

I have never shot a 100 yard group with it. When I test a load over the chrono I set a target at 7 yards, and it is always a ragged hole unless I get careless. A very small ragged hole if I concentrate. My 9MM Sub-2000 shoots almost as well.

Marlin Camp 9 tested from a rest, 25 yards scoped . More than ten different brands and three different weights and several bullet types. Five per group.

Best groups Fiocchi 115gr FMJ .....under one inch.

Magtech 147gr FMC flat point.......under one inch.

Magtech 95gr JSP....about one inch (one target was .6)

Silver Bear 115gr FMJ....about one inch (one target was .37)

For a cheap alternative Freedom Arms sells remanufactured at about $10.00 per 50. The groups opened somewhat (~1/2 in. or so) and had some flyers but for the price it's good ammo.

I've tested the rifle at 40 yards from a rest with a scope, 10 per group. Groups .....about 2 1/2-3 1/2 most ammo tested about the same. Silver Bear 115gr stood out, as did Magtech 124gr.

I don't really shoot my sub2000 for precision, but breaking clays or bouncing around cans on the backstop berm is easy at 50 yards

If you're looking for pinpoint accuracy, a PCC isn't really the normal path to get there

With a steady rest and Winchester white box 115gr. FMJ, my 16" barreled Uzi carbine groups about 2.5" at 50 yards. I was surprised but pleased.

I can get 1-2 MOA out of my 9mm AR15 using BVAC reloads and federal champions(115gr each). I don't remember what accuracy is like with hollowpoints(147 grains) since it was mainly just a trial run to make sure the gun could feed them.

Best groups at 50 yards using my Hi-Point 995TS,,,

Best groups at 50 yards using my Hi-Point 995TS are around 5" across,,,
I think the carbine would actually do better than that,,,
Because I'm only a mediocre shot.

I should add to my above post
1 - I'm not a rifle expert
and
2 - the sights on the sub2000 seem to be the limiting factor, that front sight is NOT designed for precise work

Thanks for the replies so far. I am really trying to get an idea of what kind of accuracy different ammo is capable of. I have a 9mm AR and the performance seems horrible, so I am trying to get something to compare to... I have never owned a 9mm carbine before.

I shot it yesterday with a 20 power scope just to see what it would do.

It was something like this for 10 shot groups at 50 yards:

Blazer Brass 115 Grain: 7" and 7 3/8" (Who could believe anything could shoot that bad?!)

S&B 115 Grain: 3 7/8" and 4 5/8"

S&B 124 Grain: 3 7/8" and 4 1/8"

Winchester 115 Grain white box: 3", 3 1/8", 3 1/2"

Anyhow I was not impressed! Don't know if it is the gun or if run of the mill 9mm ammo is just that bad.

***Edited to put in actual S&B ammo groups. I originally posted while at work and posted estimated group size for the S&B loads from memory.***

try some 147 grain WWB hp

My Ruger PC9 with 4x scope will put five of them in a just over an inch at 50 yards. FWIW, I get better groups shooting prone than I do off bags. Maybe that heavy blow-back bolt has something to do with it...

I have used a 3-9 scope and an EOtech too with similar results. I put the 20 on there as I was having a hard time believing a gun or ammo could shoot so poorly. BTW, I am a high power shooter, and can shoot close to 1/2 MOA with this level of magnification - so it isn't me!

2 MOA is easily attainable I have no idea why so many are having 6-9 MOA groups, probably because none actually shot pistol chamber carbines off sandbags.

HK94SG1 was prbably the most accurate 9mm carbine

"An American idea to market the 94 as a 9mm sniper rifle. Marketed with claw lock scope mount, factory zeroed Leupold 6X scope, HK93A2 stock with adjustable cheekpiece, Harris bipod and flash suppressor."

Very Accurate

I had my Hi Point 995TS at minute of paper plate at 100 yards with a 4 power scope, shooting offhand with 115gr. Winchester bulk FMJ. Not a scientific test, I know, but more accurate than I ever really expected of the old girl. Kinda miss it.

Welding Rod. Try the heavier bullets (147gr) and the lighter Magtech 95gr and see if that makes a difference.

I have a 9mm .45acp and .357 PCC's and I've been disappointed by all of them until I went to hand loading for them.

When I first got my Just Right Carbine, I put a red dot on it to try it out before my Troy sights were delivered. The hole in the center was a 3 shot group at the end of the sight in proccess;

+1 for HP 995 & 995TS accuracy. After taking a scope mount off my 995 and replacing it with the original rear iron sights, I went to the range last Sunday. I brought it and my friend brout his 995TS, with a Bushnell Trophy red dot. I set the target at 25yds, before we left, we each had several "one ragged hole" 5shot groups. These were fairly slow fire from a bench with a range bag support. The ammo was Cabela's cheapest bulk Herters. I even had one 10shot "one ragged hole" group. That's plenty accurate for a cheap 9mm plinking carbine.
