9mm Carry Ammo

Anyone can make ammunition and sell it commercially. That's a fairly low standard to judge what works and what doesn't. I'd prefer to see the cumulative average performances of ammunition used in Officer Involved Shootings as slightly more credible.

Shooting +P or +P+ in a short barrel gives no benefit. More muzzle flash is about all you get from it.
I carry 147 Ranger T's They have been chronographed at 1150, while 127+P are around 1200. Not much benefit for all the flash and bang.

For short barrels stick with slow heavy bullets.

The Ranger T's in 147 are a proven round with good expansion and great penetration. Many rounds may open up bigger but they trade penetration then.

Since they don't make a 230 grain for 9mm, I go with 147 grain JHPs. Not wedded to any particular manufacturer just one of the top ends, no bargain basement.

Gold Dot 124 grain +P functions fine in my glock. Ballistically the 124 grain rounds usually perform the best in tests.

I have used most of the major brands through my Glock 19 with no problems. Right now, 1 meg has critical defense, well the other has golden sabers.
