Hey guys, I know a few of yall wanted to keep updated about my 9mm CCO project. I finished everything up tonight. The sights need to be permanently attached, but this is basically it :)

Thanks :) I did parkerize it myself. I thought about sending it off, but I came this far I wasn't going to flake out at the very end.

Prepping the surface would have been so much faster with a blaster, especially doing the little parts too, but I made do. Since I'm familiar with this whole process now, I'm hoping to do it again, next time with a blaster :D

That looks very nice. I'm glad the project is going well. The officer's frame looks much nicer with the fresh finish.

Good work!

Nice park job.

That is something I'd like to get for my wife, as she likes 9mm out of a 1911.

I've had it out on the range twice for function tests and such. It ran well and felt good shooting. The day I get the sights set at the range, I'll take the GI out too. I'm curious to feel the differennce in shooting between the two.

Yup, Metalform is the only ones I found to make 9mm Officer's mags. They work great.

A few MORE questions...

How long did it take to get the Metalform mags? I have had a couple 10mm Officer's mags on order for about a month without a peep from them. They haven't charged me for them yet, either.

Also, when you parked the small parts, did you lower them into the solution using a stainless strainer/collander? If not, how did you do it? Did you park the barrel as well?

Lots of questions, I know.... All of my current projects are stainless, so I can deal with finishing. I can also rust blue carbon steel parts, if need be. Somewhere down the road I am going to take on a mil-specish project, and I would like to do EVERYTHING myself, to include the finish. I might as well ask all the right questions now! :D

I ordered the mags from Brownell's with my other parts, so they came quickly, a couple of days later.

The small parts I hung on wire (MSH, grip and thumb safety). I reblued the bushing, hammer, sear and MSH pins as they were pretty rough and I didn't want them standing out like a sore thumb on the backside of the fresh parked frame.

I did not park the barrel. It's stainless steel and I like the color contrast at the crown and hood.

I'm going to do another project later. I think I'll build a 1911 for my Dad. I depends on how much time I have before we leave. I enjoyed this one.

So you doing a 10mm build?

10mm build?

So you doing a 10mm build?

Kinda-sorta. I took a Kimber Compact Stainless in .40 S&W and converted it to 10mm. It's ready for a test run, but I don't have any mags yet. I have a .45 OACP mag that I have tweaked the feed lips on that will feed dummy rounds, so that might have to hold me until the Metalform mags arrive. If I get a chance, I will go try it out this weekend.
