You should send it to me so I can test the accuracy of the gun with a different shooter :D

But seriously, Day 2 shows good improvement. Keep it up!

Thanks

I think I'm doing two things wrong more than anything else:

jerking the trigger down
anticipating recoil and pushing right

Beautiful gun, man...love it. Practice dry firing with snap-caps...breathe in.. slowly exhale...relax...squeeze.

excellent advice

Slowing down is one of my biggest challenges.

We shoot a rimfire silhouette match in the morning, and nearly everyone finishes their 5 shot string in about 30 seconds when we have a full 60.

I practiced with a timer today and still finished too early. :banghead:

Thanks Doc, just the basics...once you get to know that pistol your speed and accuracy will increase; trigger control is so essential. I'm thinking that since you are flinching and pulling on a 9mm, you shoot mostly .22? Is this your first 9mm?

Nosir, but it's my first time to shoot it at 25-50 yds.

I've been shooting it close range and IDPA along with my Colt CCO which is my carry piece.

Shot it today, too, for the first time at 25 yds.

The holes are easier to see. ;)

Darn I have wanted a Commander sized 1911 for a long time. Leaning towards a Colt Lightweight Commander XSE. I shot a frieds, and it was very accurate, and had a great, stock trigger. Could use some de-horning, but that doesn't really bother me.

That's a great looking Commander!

I'm going to guess and say your not focusing on the sights enough. your probably used to using more of a flash sight picture from shooting close up. At 25 yards just having the front sight someplace in the rear isn't good enough to keep you on the X.

I think it's mainly two things:

1. anticipating recoil
2. trigger discipline

Me and the front sight are best buds by now. ;)

If that Colt was mine I would stone the hammer and sear mating surfaces, and try a reduced power mainspring like a 19 or 17 lb. If you are not comfortable doing a trigger job yourself have a 1911 smith do one, the accuracy should improve. For me the quality and effort of the trigger pull are what makes a pistol shoot where I aim it.
