Hello gentlemen. This is my 1st post here at HR. I have some guns and they are fine, but I have really falling in love with handguns and the 9mm in particular. I would like to get some feedback about these 3 9mms. My guess is that any of the 3 will do fine, but I thought it might be a good idea to check with actual users first.

My main objective is to go shooting at shooting range. It's such a stress reliever! I would like it to be a capable home protection without being overkill. I do have a carry permit, so it would be nice to carry too.

Here they are in alphabetical order:
  • Beretta 92A1
  • CZ-USA CZ75 SP-01
  • Sarsilmaz SAR ST10 (aka EAA)

Please share your thoughts if you have experience with any of these weapons.

I've range experience with the 92A1, but I own several CZs, and always at least one 75 in one guise or another.

IMO, it is the best on your list. The SP-01 is a damned fine gun.:)
 
Thank you for your input. Just to make sure I understand you correctly, you would rank the CZ75 SP-01 #1 on the list?

The 92fs has an aluminum frame, the SP-01 being all steel. You'll probably find the SP to be an excellent range/competition pistol, but quite heavy for carry.

May I humbly suggest the P01 instead if you plan to carry. I wore mine to the theater tonight.

I have a CZ 75B, and 75D PCR, and am looking for an SP-01. They are hard to find right now, so recently, I bought a 92FS, and really like it. You can't go wrong with either, but the SP-01 will probably be a little more inherently accurate, but both the Beretta and CZ are capable of excellent accuracy. The Beretta is a little lighter if you're going to carry it, but they are both large for CCW.

Get the one you can find first.
 
Thanks Pilot. That seems to be the biggest concern for me, finding one in stock! Thankfully, I am close to a number of gun shops, so hopefully one of them will have something I like.
 
I've got both a CZ SP-01 in the form of the Shadow model as well as the Beretta 92fs. Both are superb guns. But neither is something I'd want to carry on my waist as a CCW all day. The CZ is rather heavy what with being all steel and the Beretta isn't a whole lot lighter and it's more bulky to boot.

I base this on the fact that I DO carry these guns for a day at a time because I use them for IDPA matches.

As range toys either is fantastic. But to carry all day? I don't like polymer guns normally because up this way handguns are only used as range toys. But if I were in your shoes and wanting a "one gun does it all" solution then the polymer guns would be looking a LOT more attractive. My first choice in that case would likely be either the Springfield XD or the S&W M&P. I've shot both and found them to be nice for grip and accuracy and both seem to be a little thinner and more streamlined than the Glock option.

If I were able to carry I think I'd likely want to look at something more compact than either the XD or M&P but still in 9mm. And something that was light. Perhaps something like the Bertta Nano or something of a similar size.

For range giggles it's a whole other story. It would be nice to ensure that you practice with your carry gun regularly. But typically a compact carry gun isn't that much fun to shoot. Too much recoil due to the light weight doncha' know. I'd want to stay capable but I'd likely look at guns such as you are interested in for the sort of thing that I'd put higher round counts thru for fun.
 
Both CZ, and Beretta also make some nice, more compact and lighter guns for carry. If you want a CZ that can do it all, range, home defense and concealed carry, consider the compact, lightweight (alloy framed) 75D PCR, or P-01. In addition, the smaller alloy framed CZ 2075 "RAMI", and polymer framed P-07 are also excellent.

In the Beretta line, the new 92FS/M9A1 Compact or polymer PX4 Storm Compact are both good choices.

I haven't seen any but the new Turkish made CZ clones from Canik, are getting good reviews.

at that pricepoint, you pretty much have the entire field open,
Go to the range and TRY the guns
shoot them, find the one you are accurate with and comfortable with.

Thank you for taking the time to post your opinion. You made some very good points. I do plan to carry some, but not every day. I am a teacher, so I won't be packing much during the work week. I am primarily going to be going to the shooting range. I did have S&W M&P on my mind too. I will be going to some shops today and hold some of these guns before I make a decision. Thanks again.
 
Beretta 92A1 - horrible DA trigger, SA is just ok.
CZ-USA CZ75 SP-01 - this would be my choice, good SA trigger.
Sarsilmaz SAR ST10 (aka EAA) - EAA's customer service sucks.
 
The P07 is lighter if you want a CZ. The P07 does use different mags than the other CZ75's and has a slightly different trigger system. The package from Cajun gunworks helps the trigger in both SA and DA modes significantly. The P07 is a weird gun; it feels cheap in some ways but yet is accurate and easy to shoot and has been totally reliable for me.

Another gun to consider if you want an all-steel 9mm is the S&W 5906. I absolutely love the 5906, very smooth trigger.
 
That's funny that you mention the Model 59o6, I have one of the old Model 59s. I was my dad's. I really love the gun and it's double stack. Hard to go wrong with Smith.
 
Though I'm sure some people do, the Beretta 92 is way to big for concealed carry IMHO (though all of them that you list are kinda big in that regard).

Personally, from you list I'd go for the CZ-75 SP-01. I used to have a regular CZ-75 that I really liked but it shot low for me which is why I got rid of it. Felt great though and was utterly reliable. I still have a Beretta 92 which does shoot to point of aim, but aside from that, ergonomics and trigger are in every way inferior to the CZ in my opinion.
 
As I get older I tend to want to specialize more, I want a smallish nine for concealed carry, a shotgun for HD, and a target pistol for range fun.

EAA imports some long slide / match guns from Tanfoglio that are pretty nice.
 
Another vote for the CZ. Mine is without doubt the most accurate handgun I have owned and or fired.

The fit and feel are IMO as good as it gets.
 
I think that EAA is relatively new... You'll have trouble finding enough people who have shot it to paint yourself an accurate picture. As such, it's definitely in 3rd place.

The Beretta has been proven for decades, and you can't go wrong with one. However, the SP-01 sure is nice, too. I'd personally rank these as equals. Unless deeper research swayed my mind, I'd probably end up going with the one for which I could get the best deal.
 
I love my 92FS but not for concealed carry. Others do it but just not for me. The HK P2000 is a great 9mm and is very suitable for carry, range, and home defense with SD ammo such as Gold Dot or Goldern Saber and many others. I have considered the CZ but the Beretta fills that niche for me. I don't know about your other listing.
Consider renting and handling a P2000. I don't think you will be disappointed. Just my opinion. Oh yeah, the HK P30 is another really great choice. Many folks carry that on a daily basis and it has interchangeable side panels and back straps. It's a great range gun as well. Lots to consider.
My biggest problem is finding ammo to feed my 9mm pistols.

By the way, the only places the I have been able to consistently find 9mm ammo is at shooting ranges. You may want to try there.
