I definitely prefer a CZ. Go with the P01 or PCR if you think you will carry. My P01 is my do all gun. Great for range and easy to carry.

I've only got experience with the Beretta 92. Damn nice shooting gun, sweet trigger and good looking too. But, if you're at all considering carry, I'd go for something smaller. Did you ever consider a Glock G19? (Yea, someone had to suggest it) I had compared those two exactly, and I picked the Glock.

Once again. Thanks for the feedback everyone. Seems like the biggest sticking point is what's more important to me: Shooting it or carrying it. I think I leaning toward shooting it.
I guess I could get a larger model this year and a smaller carry next year. Or vice versa.

I got one of these a few years ago. It's just to play at the range.

( new screws with lock-tite ) and the rear sight pin....same story with
lock-tite. I had them set my trigger to 3 lbs.

I think it will stand up to many thousand rounds of use.

My vote would be one of the CZs, I have owned both the 92 and many CZs. The CZs just feel better in my hands and they are very reliable.
You might look at the CZ compacts for both range gun and CCW it would fit both slots very nicely.
I have a number of CZs that I still have and shoot, for me to pick only one would be very hard, but I would probably go to my 9MM RAMI. It feels good, is dead accurate, has never jammed and is small enough for easy CCW. I have put over 3,000 rounds through the RAMI (everything from factory 115s, my lead reloads to exotic JHPs) without a failure.
Plus at 30 feet I can shoot a 14 shot, 1 1/2 in group, not bad for a small gun.
You can also purchase, lots of stuff to customize your gun.

9mm to carry My choice would be the 6906. There are others in the 6900 series. as well as the 3900 series. They are great shooters and carry guns that will not BREAK the BANK if you find a good one.

I think you have to consider controls.
When I was looking at the 3rd gen Smiths & the Beretta in the 80's I didn't like trying to flip a safety up to take the safety off. I had no problem sweeping a safety off with a downward motion of my thumb.
I know you can get a 92 with a frame mounted safety that sweeps down...
Some people don't like having a manual safety period and they gravitate to DOA or "Safe Action" striker fired pistols.
I think you should get some practice with DA/SA pistols befoe getting one. There are people who get quite good with them with practice. When I first shot them I found my first shot was usually off because of pulling the heavy DA trigger and my second shot was off because of the sudden change in trigger - I never pursued getting better at it, I just decided DA/SA triggers were not for me.

Any of the current CZ's are great guns I currently have a CZ 75b and Will be adding more CZ's soon.

While not a Beretta, my wife has a Taurus PT92 that I have carried on occasion. Its not too big for me, but I am a bigger person (6'3", 260). I have shot the Beretta, and it is a fine pistol, but the CZ is equally nice, and I think for the money, you will find the CZ a better option from your list.
My personal preference, if you are willing to look outside your list, is a Browing Hi-power. steel frame, full size (but not huge), high capacity, yet fairly slim for all day carry comfort. Top that all off with great accuracy and a sweet single action trigger, the Hi-power is hard to beat.

I've got a CZ 75 SP-01 I bought a little over a month ago and I absolutely love it. As others have said, it's big and heavy, but for me it's a night stand gun so I don't mind. I bought the tactical version with the decocker instead of the safety plus it has night sights.
The DA trigger pull is not great, but gets better with lots of dry firing. The SA pull is fine.
I like the Beretta as well, but the CZ just felt better. I would not be at all surprised if I end up owning both.

I believe I got them on ebay and they came from a different country maybe taiwan? Not really sure anymore but they make a good carry grip. I modified a pair on stock grips into thin grips and I think they fell the best so far. Tho need to change the front and back strap tape to match each pair of grips.
I own a 92A1 and a SP-01.
Both are fine pistols with solid reputations. IMO, I prefer the 92A1 much more than the SP-01 for several reasons.
1) It seems much more refined, especially when I disassemble it. The SP-01 looks fine on the outside, but internally, it looks a little rough. Mine has machining marks inside (on my other CZ as well). It gets dirtier a little easier. Disassembly is just a little harder (on one of my CZs, i need to get a tool to do so). The 92A1 just looks to me to be a higher quality product (at least by appearance).
2) My SP-01 did not like hollow points. I have read similar problems in other forums. With a self defense gun, that is a big issue. On some mags, I would have jams every other round with hollow points. Seems to be more of an issue with the 18 round mags that came with it (my 16 rounds worked fine with hollow points, but because of the issues in my 18 round mag, I can never fully trust the SP-01 to be more than a range gun). You might have a different experience with it.
3) The slide is much easier to rack on the Beretta.
4) The SP-01 feels very heavy. Without weighing it, I would guess it is my heaviest pistol.
Bottom line - I would trust my 92A1 to be a defense gun. The SP-01 has been designated as a range gun only for me. I like the weight, appearance, and practically everything about the 92A1 more than the SP-01.

I love the 75B by the way. Beautiful gun. and it fits better in my hand than any other pistol i own.
if it's for home use, the downside is it doesnt have a rail. but hard pick between that and a 92A1. It was $200 cheaper for me, but i still think i prefer the 92A1 over it slightly.

Good evening gentlemen. I made a 9mm purchase today. Before I tell you what I picked up, I do appreciate all of your feedback. My local gun shop had received a number of new guns today. So I was going nuts finally see shelves full of options. They had Smiths, Beretta, Sigs, CZ, H&K, etc. I looked at a number of pistols, and one in particular felt like "the one". I bought the H&K P30 9mm. I must admit that I have always wanted an H&K! It was more expensive than most others, but I couldn't resist.
