I'm planning on someday making my own 9x18's by cutting down 9x19 Luger cases

It works but it's a lot of work and time consuming. I did it before commercial brass became available. Then I bought 500 Starline cases and have never looked back. I also cast bullets for it.

Well, I finally got around to it. Cut down and loaded 50 cases, just to see how it was, and it wasn't bad at all. Not THAT much work. Need to go shoot 'em now to see how well they do. I'm sure they'll be too weak, I started with a light load.

My favorite defensive round in 9x18 is the CorBon Powrball. I carry it in my P64 and the lighter weight of the round (70gr) makes for a much lighter recoil. The round boasts 9mm luger performance at 1300fps /286ft-lbs . The poly ball insert helps the round to feed smoothly as well. I carry my P64 in the summer and trust it 100%.
