A few questions about Fox Pepper Spray

1. Where to buy?
2. what size? (11 gram keychain, 2 oz, 3oz, 4oz belt)
3. What type of cap? (cop top, flip top, etc)
4. Holster type? for a non-keychain style
5. dispersal pattern? (i'm thinking stream but I'm open to other ideas)

I'm thinking of 1 unit each for my wife and myself. Should I think about additional units for car, home, bike use?

My preferences are:
size: 2oz
cap type: flip top
holster: none, I use a pocket
pattern: stream

Should I think about additional units for car, home, bike use?

Perhaps, but more importantly, you should consider additional units for spares. When you are forced to use one on an attacking dog (like i had to) it is nice to have another one and not have to wait for a week while you order another.
It's the same as having more ammo at home than what is IN your ccw gun.

1. www.selfdefenseproducts.com

2. 2 oz. is good for the pocket; 3 and 4 oz. are better at home

3. I like the flip top; supposedly the cop top has been discontinued. I would definitely have some type of physical barrier atop the spray button.

4. I wouldn't get a flap holster, if you get a holster at all. Just slows you down. I don't use any holster; I just slip it in my pocket. I believe you can purchase a piece of elastic that fits on your belt and holds the can.

5. Get the "medium fog," not the stream. The stream requires pinpoint precision; on the downside, the fog is a bit more affected by wind.

6. I'd get one for you, one for wife, a larger one for home. Carry them with you in the car, on your bike, etc. Replace evey 2 years or so.

one more thing

They sell the decontamination wipes. If you discharge the spray, and the wind or your aim puts it somewhere unintentional (on you or a loved one), having the De-Con wipe sounds like a great idea...

The De-Con wipes are also handy if you get real curious about just how bad the stuff burns and decide to have your brother spray you with it. Or so I hear.

My Answers:
1. Shop around, find it cheap (buy Fox though)
2. As big as you can carry (I have a 1lb unit for my car, SAR pack, and aircraft)
3. What feels the best for you, what do you think you will be able to operate best under stress.
4. Doesn’t matter, keep it handy.
5. Stream. Getting Fox on you SUCKS! :scrutiny:

Get an additional one for you and your wife to mess with. You want to know ahead of time what you can expect from it (range of effectiveness, etc.)

Get the stream version, not the fog version. If you use the stuff outside, even a very light breeze can blow the fog back into your face. Not cool. The stream might get yourself too in a breeze, but it's less likely to happen with the stream than with the fog.

Buy whatever size you think is most convenient. You aren't likely to need more than a few quick bursts, so there isn't a whole lot of need for the bigger canisters. But if it makes you fell better to have some extra "ammo", go for it.

Buy some spare cans. Use up one or two of 'em practicing. The middle of an attack is wrong time to start learning how the stuff operates.

I carry a 2OZ, flip top, cone pattern in my front pocket. I got mine at a gun store that carries a lot of LE equipment. I think I paid about $15+tax for it and it says it is LE formula on the can (rated at 5.3M SHUs) and has ultraviolet dye (for what I have no idea as if I use it I am sure as hell not going to hang around to shine a black light on the recipient).

+1
The perp being able to readily inhale it is effective for it's usage. The fog's and cones are awesome for this. The streams not so much.
