Based on your transportation situation/and inability to carry ccw. I think I'd carry a skateboard for use between the bus stop and your work area.

Reason is this UPS/Airport should accept this as part of you transportation option meaning they would more than likely not see this a a threat.And, the bus drivers wouldnt give it a second look either. However, a skateboard can become an effective blunt force trauma weapon if needed.

A Huffy Micro Scooter/ Razor scooter (the Micro is better ) would be really good for that type of purpose, and you could always have some fun riding it- that simple as can be. the handle extends and that would give you leverage to swing the ~24" ALUMINUM platform. They fold up into a 27" package for storage and even have strap cases available.

On the way to work a group of black men (aged approx. 23-27) in a brand new silver Lexus pulled up along side me and threatened to sodomize me.

That is so horrible of them and the only thing that those street savages or undesirables understand is the use of violence,from a gun.People like that aren't fit to live in socitey and Im glad that they didn't do that to you,that was just so evil.Perhaps a clip-full of 9mm ammo into the windows of the Lexus,would of made them change their minds.These are lowlifes,who have no respect for whites and for themselves.That is the truth,folks and it is the case in South-East London as it is in the USA.

Carry something good and concealable,that holds either enough rounds or has enough knockdown power,when you next walk in the urban Jungle.

is that if you don't have to pass through metal detectors, carry concealed and never mention it. If you get "wanded" opt for other personal (kubotan) protection devices. I've heard (since any carrying is illegal her in ill-inois) that if you are packing and find an obstacle (sensor or wand) in your path, stash the carried piece, there's always an alley, lot, sewer or garbage can where you can hang, tape or cover the item, temporarilly. I heard how once this guy was going to tour the Empire State building and they had metal detectors at the elevators. He just grabbed a bag and put the piece in the trash. On descending from the tour he retrieved it. Be creative it's much less harmfull to lose a gun or knife than to suffer the incivilities threatened.

I am not comfortable with leaving a loaded gun unsecured even if it is hidden. I would spaz the entire time I was separated from it wondering "what if!?!?!"
