I think you did as well as you could given you were outnumbered, on foot, no weapons or special ninja training.
Can you not carry a small pepper spray concealed in your pockets?
These types you mentioned are becoming more prevalent in my area as well. Hopefully they'll thin each other out over drugs--hopefully without any innocent lives taken.

You make a good point: an awful lot of the violence on the streets today is drug-related.

Call me Mr. Silly, but I have a great idea to eliminate all of that violence in one fell swoop: legalize the dang stuff and start selling them in the corner Piggly Wiggly. No more turf wars, lower prices (and hence less crime to pay for it), better quality, and Consumer Reports can start running articles like, "10 Coca-Based Beverages Compared!"

Not to be considered against thinking outside the box for defending yourself. The main thing to remember is that Vis-avis is working for UPS and they really don't want anyone carrying anything in or out. Now, I can sympathize with Vis-a-vis since he has to go through the whole security/Metal detector detail entering and leaving. So a lot of the defensive stuff just isn't going to fly. You can forget asking the security gaurds to hold your stuff, they're more likely to throw it out or keep it since they're actually the lowest paid employees on the site. :scrutiny:UPS works you hard and fast for a few short hours in exchange for better than average hourly wages and free medical insurance after the first 90 days. So Vis-a-vis probably isn't going to have any place to keep his stuff. The question to remember is whether he should continue to remain in such an exposed state.:uhoh:

Just my two cents.

Happened in good ol Indiana

There was an incident here at a local bar where a group of men beat the crap out of a guy and then proceeded to rape him in the parking lot...:what: Seems to be something of growing popularity for some god-forsaken reason. I am not sure of the details of the case but I know El Tejon lives in the area and is a lawyer so he might have more info about the case. I didn't read all the posts but are you prevented from carrying a pocket knife to work? You could get a smaller kershaw and it could do some real damage to someones twig and berries if anything happened. Hell I would even consider hiding something like that outside in the parking lot(think planters where you could bury it). If it gets lost it is only around 40 bucks. Would seem worth it to me. Also a sharp piece of pvc can be very damaging and would not set of detectors.

[QUOTESandy 4570, TERRIBLE advice

nunchucks are a felony in CA!!
Gunsmith I hear you lound and clear, the lady at DOJ send me the info back in 94 before I was discharged ,she wanted to make sure that Sandy did not bring any Ar15,Ak 47, silencer,balisong,nanchuck,Mac11,etc back to California.Vis-a`-vis lives in Kentucky (near Ft. Knox) so he doesn't have to worry about California law.

I second learning some type of martial arts. One of the guys I work with is an instructor in Jiu Jitsu on the side, he only works this job for the physical aspect of it. Well he taught his GF how to fight. She nearly got abducted coming out of a coffee shop before daylight and the would be rapist ended up with a dislocated jaw, broken nose and several cracked/broken ribs from where she landed several hits to the face and planted both knees in his chest after he hit the ground. The guy tried to sue for excessive force but the judge threw the case out. I'd hate to get in a spat with her.

Now I don't believe in the single guy taking on 5 or 6 and kicking them all to pieces ala Enter the Dragon (unless you happen to be Bruce re-incarnated, or Chuck Norris) but the thugs may be less apt to follow after the first one gets his trachea crushed by a double-back-handed-flying-monkey-punch-of-doom or some such. One of those Kobutans may be a good trick too once you learn to fight and study pressure points, and they're not readily recognizable as weapons.

So what does race have to do with any of this?

It probably has something to do with the fact that if you're in a bad neighborhood and you're in a certain area, Black and Mexican criminals are likely to be the ones attacking you especially if they're in a gang. It's a fact that Blacks and Mexicans attack Whites more than the reverse when inter-racial violence breaks out.

That doesn't mean that all or even a large percentage of Blacks or Mexicans engage in this type of behavior, but it happens to be the truth that Whites are often ganged up on and murdered, raped, robbed and attacked by criminals of a certain ethnic background when it happens in an urban setting.

Anybody stating these facts is likely to be called a "racist", but that doesn't make it any less true.

It's funny how "racists" are always White, you never hear the gang of Black guys attacking or intimidating a White person being called "racists" despite the fact that they're engaging in racially motivated intimidation and violence. To me that's hypocritical. Both types of violence are equally as bad, one type isn't more socially acceptable than the other.

Or at least it shouldn't be more acceptable.

If a Black person on this forum had of started a thread about how a group of people tried to intimidate him or her at a bus stop and he identified them as Whites and stated that they were dressed in a certain way and driving a certain type of vehicle would you have made the same sort of remarks to him or her?

I don't think that you would have.

This happened to a friend of mine by a group of 'Bloods' in L.A. He smiled, pretended he was deaf, started to mumble, and use make up sign language. They left him alone
.
Or you can pretend you have an incurable and contagious social disease

I was just in Anaheim and I carried my gravity blade with me everywhere. AFAIK they are not illegal... Yet.

As to the OP, when I was in San Francisco last year we accidentally ended up in the wrong neighborhood looking for a cab after eating at Benihana's. Some bangers rolled up in their Hummer and started harrassing us. I asked them where I could buy some crack and they immediately changed their tune and directed me down the block where we flagged a cab and went back to the hotel.

Bidness iz bidness and the customer is always right.

DAMN STRAIGHT.

The other thing is, Whites are beaten, murdered and raped by Blacks on a daily basis in this country and the media covers it up, except for some of the local papers.

did you get the tag number? I'd call the police.

as a note, however. I've heard once a man's be imprisoned for a while he starts to gain desire for intercourse so much that he switches sides. Maybe they were just 'looking for love in all the wrong places'

I was going to reference some Michael Jackson lyrics to describe this, but it seems inappropriate because you don't seem to be his type.

No, that's not really true. At any rate that pertains to what goes on behind bars.

I don't understand this male rape phenomenon which is so associated with young male Blacks.

Kubotan - HA! Alternative methods. I was once accosted by several men in much the same situation, at a bus stop, etc... It was CLEARLY a setup, they'd been cruising looking for a single white male.

I had a gun - but UNTIL they offered some form of force to pull it out wasn't an option (Denver).

Those nifty little toys like kubotans are useless even in the hands of a master against nearly any assailant. It takes years of training to make any martial system work well, and the best use of those things is by surprise - not a whole lot of surprise when a group of thugs is bearing down on you, you MIGHT injure one of them slightly, but the rest have got you after the first blow.

Sometimes a good defense can be had by buying/wearing a necklace and or medical alert bracelet that has WARNING - HIV/AIDS patient on it. It wont really hurt you in a medical emergency, but the last thing a group of those guys wants is your blood or other bodily fluids anywhere NEAR them. Of course you may still get beat up, but not violated.

Or you could quit your job.

IT's gotta be maddening, frankly you shouldn't have to quit your job or alter your life - but the folks that run around with armed bodyguards know best, and they say you don't need to defend yourself. Don't you feel better now?

Uncalled for, JohnAFlynn. Edit that last post. Uncalled for to say the least.
We don't abide by that kind of crap here.

Biker

+1 Biker.

The race card is overplayed-- regardless of the race playing it.

And dat's all I'm gonna say 'bout dat.

I started taking my ASP baton and putting it in a locker outside security. But last night, at this same stop, I had another incident that made me uneasy. I actually pulled out my baton. While waiting for the bus in broad daylight on the 4th, a white (see they aren't all black) man started walking toward me from down the road. He kept staring at me, so I backed up a little to get out of the man's way. Since he was looking at me I said, "Hey, how ya doin'" and then noticed an open knife he was hiding behind behind his wrist.

He never said anything as he approached, just kept staring. When I saw the knife I stepped back even farther and pulled out the baton. He quit looking at me and walked on by.

I'm taking my gun from now on. Screw UPS and their damn rule. I also hate this damn bus stop. A few days ago a group of folks were hiding behind a dark pine tree in the park across the street smoking crack.

Next time you see them (seeing you can't carry for your own protection) make sure you're able to identify things like their car, license plate, height, identifiable marks, etc. and make a police report. I'm sure if their vehicle was searched from what you were saying earlier, they'd probably end up going straight to jail. Drug dealers are rarely without their product.

Who said they were drug dealers??
