A little confused on my new purchase.

Yesterday I bought a Kimber Micro Carry to accompany my Ultra CDP II.

My question..... Did I miss something? Did Kimber buy Sig, Did Sig buy Kimber, a merge?? Since when did they start using the exact same frames, internals, etc? I didn't want another Sig so I bought this Kimber and lo-and-behold when I stripped it down to pre-clean it I discovered a sig hiding under that Kimber slide. No wonder the salesman told me I could use Sig magazines in it. Hmm.

A quick check on Google (or other search engines) might have explained the similarities.

Kimber is just doing what SIG did -- copying an earlier gun, which was a copy of an earlier gun!

I think you'll find that the Colt Mustang is based on an earlier Star (the DK) which was based generally on the original 1911 design. (Colt also had a Pony based on the same basic gun.) Sig's P238 is based on the Mustang, and the Kimber you bought seems to be basically the same weapon. A number of companies,. including Iver Johnson and FI, copied the original Star design.
