A-MERC Brass

The biggest problem I've encountered is the large primer pockets, which allows primers to fall from them freely the first time an attempt is made to reload them.

Then there is the issued of case walls that vary in thickness, soft brass varying rim thicknesses and several other reasons.

Hope this helps.

You can FEEL the difference when sizing them. The ones that I miss at first I always find when I size the brass. I can always tell an A-Merc case. It feels like it is crushing, not sizing.

What does the head stamp look like on A-MERC Brass?

Thank you

sticks in dillon decapping station, if it gets past that--
welds itself to the belling die.
if the POS survives the reloading process it is guaranteed to not chamber fully and jam up the slide.
it was created to piss me off.
VOTE IT OFF THE EARTH
people so rude as to leave it at the range should be used as shark bait.

Hmm, I don't have any serious problems with A-MERC brass.

I've had one that the flash hole was off center enough it wouldn't deprime. Scrap bucket. Just last week I had another one with the entire primer pocket off center, the flash hole was centered in the pocket but the pocket was off center, again, would not deprime, scrap bucket.

I've scrapped more WIN cases than I have A-MERC, however, I have more WIN cases available. Just recently I had a run of *I* .38 spl brass that the primers would not push out, instead the cap broke off leaving the ring of the primer in the pocket, couldn't get them out so I tossed them in the bucket, too.

The only time I sort the A-MERC is after I reload them, I put them back in A-MERC boxes, those boxes are the ones I take to ranges where I know I probably won't be able to recover brass.

CBC is my favorite.

Although I did score a bunch of TZZ MATCH brass from some guys with a Thompson at this one range, and that stuff is nice.

A-merc brass
-Primer holes too large after first firing
-Off center primer holes
-Cases will often crush during resizing (no, I never crush any other brand cases)
-Because of the poor crimp bullets will often setback

The biggest problem with the A-MERC brass is that it's too soft...

Run some cases through a carbide sizing die and you'll see that you push a ridge of brass up at the front of the carbide insert near the head of the case...

This doesn't happen with decent brass.

Toss the A-MERC in the scrap bucket.

That's what I do...

I also have had problems getting it to stay belled after doing so. It seems to go right back to where it was.
