A new 9mm which one?

Well I'm a gun collecter and I do use what I have but my wife and I decided to get 2 full size autoloaders to go along with are sub-comps. She currently carries a Taurus PT-111 and I carry a Kel-tec P-11 as well as a Kel-tec P-32. So this is actually for mine as she hasn't even come close to decideing on anything other than the FN 5.7. So here we go.

I voted for the PX4 because I have an F model and am very pleased with it. However, it was a close call because the Stoeger Cougar is one of the best bargains on your list. It is a Beretta Cougar, manufactured on the same tooling as the Beretta but made in Beretta's factory in Turkey (Beretta owns Stoeger). As a result, it costs much less than the Beretta and is the same gun.

As far as the Sigma goes; it's cheap for a reason. And not a good reason. Smith & Wesson has been offering rebates on them for months and you don't do that because they're flying off the shelves.

Taurus isn't a bad gun, at all. Ruger SR9 is nice, too. But I think the Beretta and Stoeger are better guns.

I voted Stoeger Cougar. Why?

Because you opened by saying that you are a collector. If you're a collector then this might be the right choice because of the rotating barrel.
See if you were just a shooter, then it wouldn't really matter what action the gun used so long as it worked when you'd need it to. But as a collector, why not go for something a bit more unique in the gun world? It's an elegant and unique design that deserves a spot in a collectors collection of guns.

The PX4 has the same system. But it's more expensive, and it's got the plastic frame. If collecting purposes, the metal frame seems more logical to me.

Smith & Wesson M&P9 or CZ SP-01. The two most balanced and reliable handguns I could recommend without spending hundreds of dollars more.

I voted Cougar. In my opinion they're really nice guns that are inexpensive. Mine is finished as nicely as any CZ that I've seen. And the rotating barrel makes it a little different than all the rest. Here's a pic for those who might not have seen one:

Get what each of you points naturally. That may be different for each of you or the same. Find that out first. Fit the gun to you not you to the gun.

Though it isn't on the list, I'd vote Glock 17.

Of the ones on the list, I'd pick either the SR9, the Beretta or the Cougar.

But there's so many other guns that are mechanically and visually interesting and shoot well to boot. Other than the Cougar that wbwanzer posted and knowing that the PX4 is passably interesting to handle I don't see much there to stir the juices. And while I've shot an SR9 and actually liked the grip the trigger felt like pulling a rubber band. Again there's a lot of other guns out there that are nicer to shoot.

So I have to ask if you had a particular personal reason for this short list of options.

If you're open to other options I'd add in the CZ SP-01, or better yet the Shadow. And then there's the Beretta 92FS as long as your hands are larger. And there's various makers that put out some lovely 1911 options in 9mm. I've shot an STI Trojan in 9mm and it's almost like it has radar guided bullets. An amazing gun that does everything right. And there's so many others on top of this as well. Guns that when you hold them and look at them and strip them down exude solidity, quality and pride of ownership far more than something that comes out of a plastic mold.
