It's been a while since I fondled an RPR but I could swear the ones I handled had their muzzle brakes timed just a few degrees left of center.

Is that the case with today's RPRs? If so, has anyone measured the offset and wouldn't mind sharing?

I figure if Ruger intentionally times the RPR brake off center, they may be onto something, I wouldn't mind trying it on one of my rifles.

Just looked closely at the RPR brake and it's symmetrical with no vertical porting so it's not going to matter where it's clocked. Only issue would be it kicking up excessive dirt should one side be pointing down too far. If there was a vertical venting involved then clocking it could counter muzzle rise and torque but in this case it doesn't look like it's going to matter.

OK, thanks RecoilRob. A bud and I were bird hunting over in E. Washington last year and stopped in at a gun shop where they had 308 and 6.5 CM RPRs on the shelf, we handled both of them and made note of the "canted" brakes. Must have been those two specimens that didn't get noticed by QC.
