Big Tech is a spy network far beyond anything in George Orwell's worst nightmares.

Because it has always been decades ahead of what we know and get to play with. That time frame may actually be expanding little by little, leaving Joe Consumer further and further back in the Stone Age with every new development and discovery.

As far as your phones "listening" - to say they are NOT listening, as those articles do, is not completely accurate. While they may not be recording (I'll go with "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" with regard to "found no evidence of secret recordings"), ANY voice-activated device is, of necessity, always not only listening but also processing what it hears. If it were not, it would not be able to respond to the voice commands.

As for turning it off, not all devices are fully "off" when they're "off" anymore. If you want to be absolutely sure, remove the battery.

I think we’ve drifted pretty far off topic. We started with watching what you post on social media and other online platforms because it can come back to bite you in court, which is on topic, to the surveillance state and big tech.
