Okay, here we go. I know it is not much but got this for a hunt in some swamps (that way if i lost it I was not out too much) but it quickly became my favorite rifle to hunt with. It is a H&R Handi Rifle in .223. Thing is dead nuts accurate, especially with my hand loads.

Lets see what you guys and girls got.

Cheers, Rob

4 Grouse, 6 Ring-neck Pheasents and about 12-ish squirrels. No luck during the first gun deer season, but i only hunted 2 days (Work and school obligations) and I was too busy chasing birds with my future father in law and their new puppy to spend much time concentrating on deer.

@ 1:17 in the Zeus holiday hog hunt video there is a penguin looking head or hat on the ground and you wearing what looks to be the other half of the outfit as a sort of vest.
:).

If i am wrong, sorry.

LOL, I am wearing coveralls that are unzipped in the front and have on a black shirt Armasight shirt underneath. The 'penguin looking head or hat' is a stuffed Angry Bird, the proverbial patron saint of hog hunting, given to me by my little girls for successful hunting. I try to include Angry Bird in the trophy photos to make my girls happy.

Maybe you missed the craze, no problem. Here is an explanatory video...

A camo-dressed penguin outfit? My girls are going to love hearing that!

We added a new hunter to the fraternity of hunters this weekend. A 14 year old girl got her first deer. Perfect quartering away shot and the large doe ran maybe 30 yards. I don't want to post pics of the girl but she drug it to the road, helped clean it (a little) and got her face blooded.

@DNS. LOL, okay that makes sense now. Also wanted to add cool youtube channel.

@ caribou. Looks like you and Agnes really cleaned up this year. Must have been a heck of a gut pile.;)

@jrdolall. Congrats, my 4 year old little girl has seen me bring home a few animals over the past few years and now tells me, "Daddy, when I get bigger I can go shoot a deer with you too. Right?"
I look forward to the day she actually is big enough, I am just not in any big hurry for to get there though.

Cheers, Rob.

She is big enough now, just make sure you take a little time pre hunt to get her accustomed to slipping on some ear muff for the shot, should you take one. My daughter and all of my grandkids have been hitting the woods with myself and my daughter since they were able to walk good. While we don't shoot something every time out, they learn early what to do, when to be quite, and to look for movement. They will really surprise you.

Just make sure YOUR up to it. Hunting with them is a short trip usually unless the weather is pretty, or your in a box blind, or similar where they can take a nap. Haul an old blanket out some coloring books and such and go for it. When you get out there, show her tracks, and other sign of all the animals you can find, they soak it up like milk in cornbread. I started off getting them used to putting on their ear muffs when they heard me clear my throat. We could do it sitting in the house, the car, or where ever. Once they had it in their heads that meant get them on, then I had to get them to NOT say "where is he" or "are you going to shoot something", or simply nothing at all. The latter is the hard part since they do not realize they actually are talking louder. Sometimes it is a circus, and you end up blowing everything, but other times when it comes together they sit there waiting, eye's glued on the deer big as pie plates. It makes it all worth while, even if you don't shoot anything. One of the two best times I had, the first I had my oldest out when he was about 3 maybe, we set up a lawn chair and I had him sitting on my lap. Nothing else around us. I hit a grunt call a few times just to get him fired up, and low and behold, in walks a nice young buck. He came up to within about 15yds of us just sitting there, before he meandered off into the woods. Another trip with the middle and youngest, we were simply sitting on a blanket at the bottom of the hill on our farm looking out across the back pasture. Out of the woods 50yds from us comes a VERY nice 8 point, and he also walked up to within about 30yds of us and stood there looking like the king of the woods. Then he simply turned and walked off. I have no idea why he never spooked, the two little ones, ear muffs on, were popping up and down like they were on pogo sticks, and talking up a storm. All the while I am going SSSHHHH SSSHHH your gonna scare him off...

But like I said these are not hunts in the real sense of the word. These are time spent with your kid(s) that you and they will remember. They aren't long or drawn out ordeals and can be over before they get started good, or can last the duration of your planned time out. Trust me when I say, it might seem like wasted time on your part as it might pertain to actual hunting, but in a couple more years it will pay huge dividends in your relationships.

I got her at 07:30 last Saturday. So far that's the extent of the bigger game. More luck to come...I hope.

Couple days so far:

Opening morning of Pheasant, limit by 0930, 1st time in 14 years I've limited, beginning to think there wasn't 4 roosters left in KS:

Western KS whitetail from this WED:

They say numbers are down 60% in the area we hunted in due to drought. Don't doubt it, this was about 1.5 miles in, then felt like 6 miles out. Next day armed with a doe tag I jumped one bigger pushing a draw for a friend.

I have 3 son's, and one got his first buck in the PA opener on Monday. I guess good things happen to those that wait!

Got this buck with my bow, about a month ago. Time stamps on the pics are wrong, me and the camera don't get along very well.
He has 3 small points around the bases that would make him a 14 point if they count, but I think technically he is just a big 11 point. He's the biggest deer I've gotten by far. The antlers are nice but the body was huge. I wish I had a scale,as I don't think the pics do him justice.

I also got a small doe this week with my slug gun. Didn't get any pics of her until she was going into the freezer

Eased into the pocket mid afternoon, when it got to be near "show time" I got off my arse and on my knees.

Looked into the woods and out in the field.... oh crap. He walked out about 20 yards away from behind a big cedar. "He's gonna bust me" I thought. He looked into the field and turned and took a couple steps toward me. He froze. I figured nothing ventured nothing gained, and reached for the rifle on my pack. He whirled and went head behind tree, I could still see all of his body. As I got the rifle up and was laying the scope on him.... well.... across the corn field he went. I could tell that he wasn't in high speed low drag mode, which was a good thing.

3 days later.

I got situated where I could look back into the direction he had come from before. Sun eased just below the tree line, show time! WAIT! is that him? Rifle up scope on. Yep that's PIEYOW/THWOP him! Cycle and look, Where's he at? GRUUNNnnnntttt.... HE'S DONE!

I am guessing something like a full-sneak shoulder mount, maybe with a head turn, but that's just me.

I was thinking either a rug or a full size in attack pose.:)

We took some freezer stuffers this weekend. My son took this eight yesterday morning, first blood with his new savage axis II 30/06. I culled a fat bodied 4 point Saturday. My son took a good doe opening weekend.
