If you haven't already, check this thing out. Pretty neat piece of engineering from AAC. Full Ruger 10/22 bull barrel machined down, two expansion chambers, two ports in the rear-most chamber, one in the forward. Here's the kicker though, baffles machined into the end of the barrel providing the legal length of the barrel at 16.25" (if i'm not mistaken) the shroud is the full length of the barrel. So in all you have an integrally suppressed 10/22 that can be disassembled for full cleaning (including barrel ports) without shortening the overall length of the barrel so there's just the tax stamp for the suppressor. I know this has been common knowledge for a while but didn't see any threads on here. Supposedly releasing in 2nd qtr of this year, but haven't found much in the way of pricing. Let's talk about what you guys think of this new design in comparison to other integrals such as AWC or Thompson Machine. Maybe someone may have the inside track as to some more detailed info if we're lucky...

Ok cool i'll start. First off I am wondering how the internal side of the barrel port affects the round as it squeezes by. Also, it would seem to me that the extra ridgidity afforded you by the machining of the baffles into the barrel, as well as the stability of not having "lose" baffles stacked in a can, would make this system more reliable and potentially more accurate than a removable suppressor. Granted you don't get to swap weapons, but damn, this thing is cool!

AAC/Ruger's 10/22 Integral

I know this is NFA related but since it is being offered built I figured I wouldn't be amiss to post here since the traffic is MUCH higher. If you haven't already, check this thing out. Pretty neat piece of engineering from AAC.

I like the Thompson Machine version better, would be easier to clean, just pull the baffles out and let soak over night in automotive parts cleaner. You could also pull the baffle and add an endcap and be able to take the rifle out of state without hassles.

Thanks TR.

Can you remove the shroud on the Thompson? If not, how do you clean your gas ports?

FYI you can take suppressors interstate without hassles anyway, as long as the destination state allows them. No need for the forms like with SBRs, MGs, etc.

Are the AAC and the Thompson the type with a perforated bore, so it reduces regular velocity .22 LR to subsonic?

I've always thought one of those would be nice as a survival rifle. Pour whatever .22 LR you come across in it, and it will still stay subsonic and suppressed.

I can only speak for AAC but yes, there are two gas ports machined into the barrel and it will bleed off enough gas to make .22lr subsonic. So go buy you a box of 550 for like $18 and plunk away.
