Abbreviations

Can we stsrt a thread with abbrevations so every one knows what we are talking about?
For instance I see ebr...what is that?
here is a short list of ones I use and a few I hate to use.
AD-accidental discharge
BP-black powder
BPCR-blackpowder cartrige reloading or revolver
ND-neglegent discharge
***- well um lets say self explanitory on that one

Please add on and some one tell me what ebr is oh and ftf is a new one I always thought that was fail to feed.

Sometimes I keep Google minimized so I can flip to it and insert the abbr. Most of the time you can discern the meaning just from the hits that come up without actually going to the site which has been hit.

Unfortunately, the proliferation of abbrs is occuring so rapidly that sometimes no web crawler has come across them yet and no "outside" definition has been extablished.

All due respect to the military, but you folks are sometimes the worst offenders in terms of acronyms... no, I take that back. Microsoft help sites are the worst.

I came across one at MS recently which consisted of eleven or twelve letters. I puzzled over that for a second until I realized that this big acronym was actually composed of three other acronyms strung together.

Yoicks!

At my work, when we take orders, the cookies are WCC or WCMD, CCP, ORC, and PBC.

Although not gun related, 10 points to whomever can decipher them.

20 points to whomever can figure out where I work!

And a picky thing to remember;

If the initials form a word that can be pronounced as such (ie. fubar) it is an acronym.

If the initials are just letters grouped togther (ie. sop) it is an alphabetism.
