They have their uses. Even if it just to keep people from causing misfeeds from a loose magazine by grabbing it on a short gun.
In my experience, foregrips=fast, traditional grip=accurate.
Admittedly most of my experience running around with the things is paintball, but smaller 'guns' made of lighter materials really accents what is quick and what is stable.
