Quite a while back I found the "MagLoader" speedloaders and wrote a review here. Eventually "Maximum 1" popped up and told me about the UpLULA loader. Well the MagLoader was working fine for me so I wasn't too interested at the time but just recently I actually saw someone using the UpLULA so I thought I'd give it a try.

The UpLULA loader is best photographed and described on their own web page here. The device is well constructed with a high impact plastic body and metal feed "beak", pins, and springs. While the "magloader" rings rely mainly on thumb strength to load a magazine, the UpLULA allows you to use your whole hand (and in fact relies on your ELBOW strength <grin>). The device is designed to adapt to a wide variety of magazine widths and in fact the only limitation to it's use really seems to be the width of magazine feed lips (too narrow and the "beak" won't fit in).

Initially the UpLULA was a bit awkward until I understood just what I was doing. Once I developed a "rhythm" I was astonished at just how fast I could load magazines. It really is as fast...or faster than the video they show on their webpage.

I use the UpLULA to load the following magazines with no trouble at all.

1911 (.45 ACP)
CZ-75B (.40 S&W)
SIG 229 (.40 S&W)
SIG 229 (9mm Luger)
Springfield XD-40 (.40 S&W)
Taurus PT-140 Mil Pro (.40 S&W)

I was also able to load the following magazines as long as I used a bit of "finesse". The issue was that the mag feed lips on the following are VERY narrow so I had to aim a bit more to make the "beak" fit into the magazine, otherwise it worked just fine and with a bit of practice I was able to load these magazines as fast as any others.

Bersa Thunder .380 Concealed Carry (.380 Auto)
CZ-52 (7.62x25 Tokarev)
CZ-82 (9x18 9mm Makarov)
Kel-Tec P-3AT (.380 Auto) -this one surprised me!

After this experience...Yes, I've gone out and bought my own.

If you load a lot of pistol magazines then do yourself a favor, go buy an UpLULA!

I bought the LULA for my AR15 and it is great. My experience with the UpLula is generally good, but I don't think it works nearly as slick as the AR15 version.

Pauo

Yeah, the AR-15 Lula is almost effortless! The UpLula's one size fits all is a nice attraction for those that shoot many makes and models.

A well written piece ZeSpectre.

As I've mentioned on a different post....The UpLULA speedloader is a must have accessory.

I'm glad this thread exists. I was wondering if I should spend $10 on an HKS Speedloader or $25+ on a UpLULA and this cemented my decision.

Hopefully it is durable.

It works great, especially, for the price Ruger sent me a free one because the mags. were so hard to load on my SR9.

The UpLula is by far the best pistol-magazine loader I have ever tried; but the Lula loader for my AK is even better!

The pistol mag fits just about everything, but the rifle loaders are completely different and very specific for each rifle magazine. The UpLula has more of a learning curve than the Lula, gotta read the instructions because it's less intuitive at first. I also find it's really much easier to use the UpLula on a table while the Lula works fine while hand-held.

These products are truly excellent and worth every penny.

The Uplula is a great product. I use mine for 9mm & 45acp, no more sore fingers & thumbs. Very fast & easy to use, no range bag should be without one. NRA PATRON LIFE MEMBER

I think Butler Creek would be smart to send a demo stand to ranges, once someone sees how easy it is, many buy them. I've shown my Uplula to quite a few people at least half buy one.

Same here. I've also been accused of being a paid shill for the product by a few folks... sheesh I WISH I was getting paid.

A lot of subgunners swear by the UpLula. I'm about to pick one up - loading 30 round mags takes a long time.

I have read alot of other posts on them and they all say this is a great loader. I just ordered one from Midway. Thanks.

The only trick I know is that you should occasionally swipe the metal "beak" with the lubricant of your choice so that it can slide out from between rounds more easily.
Yup, the beak should have been finished in polished chrome or something else very slick and durable.

I've been happy with mine. As others have mentioned, it's not intuitive, you have to read the instructions and practice with it a little. After the first 3 or 4 mags it starts to be very easy to use.
