Adjustable Stocks for a Bolt Gun

Mrs. Orcon has been showing a growing interest in firearms over the past few years. You know how it starts, plinking cans with the Sig Mosquito and then then rining spinners with the Savage 93. Eventually moving up to full size handguns until one day I'm informed that I can't buy anymore guns until she gets her own pistol. Well, now we're at that point with rifles.

She's shot my 308 win enough to decide she needs a rifle that "fits her" and I can't disagree. She is of diminutive stature (5 foot on a good day) and the LOP on my rifles is too long for her to consistently get into the eyebox without creeping the stock. I've considered getting a youth stock and reconfiguring one of my existing rifles for her but most youth stocks are either wood or cheap plastic.

My mind is made up on an adjustable for a variety of reasons but which one and for which rifle? For the cost of some of these stocks/chassis I could just buy a Ruger Precision or Savage BA that already features the adjustable butt.

The rifles I've got to work with are 2 Savage 10s (22-250, .308) and a Ruger M77 (243). What do you guys think? Float me some ideas.

The Axioms are one of the few adjustable stock that im aware of at a lower price point than the chassis systems. They arnt in my opinion horribly attractive but they are decent stocks from all accounts, havent owned one.

Cheapest option would be to cut down a factory stock to fit her, or getting a youth stock, but as you said they will be wood or soft plastic. Honestly I much prefer wood rifle stocks, mostly because I can adjust them more easily than synthetics.

Again, I realize you are set on adjustable... but having a factory stock shortened or ordering a Boydes with a custom LOP would probably be a great choice. And I believe a properly bedded laminate stock is as good as it gets short of the high dollar chassis and such.

Or you could just get her the RPR or Stealth in 6.5 Creedmoor!

I'm not sure of how much you are wanting to spend but have you checked out the Mossberg Patriot bantam, very light and compact gun that has spacers for various length of pull, and it comes in around $300 and seems to be built very well.

I own a lot of different guns from different manufacturers, I have no skin in "mossberg", and Orcon is right, he does support SG tech, he is the CEO of iGun Technology Corp.

I only added this so there is more info available so you can make your own informed decision on whether to buy from Mosberg. I researched after seeing the above comment, because, I wanted to have all the facts that were available.

It is obvious you need a tikka TAC-A1 in the caliber of choice.

Or a ruger precision rifle, maybe 223 for her, but gives you an excuse to add a 308 or 6.5 creed later or vice versa
