Oh Hi Oh
I have a set of laser grips for my revolver. I also have access to a bore sight that fits the same handgun. If I place the bore sight in the chamber and adjust the grip laser so the dot of each laser (bore sight and laser grip) intersect would the sight be adjusted correctly?

I already know that a laser is no substitute for good technique and does not replace the iron sights. Just wondering if my thinking is correct on this.

Thanks

For some distance it is correctly adjusted.
But cannot say how far youre usually shooting.
at least windage is ok.
Lasers draw straight lines, you cant say that about bullets.

Adjust the two at 50' and you will be adjusted per the factory recommendations for the laser grips. You will still see the bore axis to laser axis difference at point blank.

I haven't used a bore sighter but I'd think it would be fairly close.

If your iron sights are right on you can check your CT laser against them.
Aim (the unloaded gun) at a small target at about 50 foot using the iron sights. Move the laser dot until it appears to sit on top of your front sight. This will put you on target for your final adjustments.

BTW you adjust the laser by moving it to the bullet strikes.
For instance if you are shooting down/left, move the laser down/left to move the bullet strike right/up.

I think you will find the laser sights will still need to be shot at a target to be adjusted properly. A bore-sighter will get you fairly close, but not perfect.

Laser bore sighting doesn't take into account the revolvers recoil.
It will shoot higher & too the left or right of where the bore-sighter is looking.

Reason being, the revolver starts to recoil upward & twist in the opposite direction of the rifling before the bullet is clear of the barrel.

You could do as well or better by skipping the bore-sighter and adjusting the laser grips to coincide with the iron sights.

My Crimson Trace grips are adjusted so that the red dot sits on top of the front sight. I am often very satisfied to see a hole appear in a target right where the red dot is. I am strictly into SD/HD, so I practice at five and ten yards.
Cordially, Jack
