Advice on a wheel gun?

S&W also makes a small J framed very light (scandium?) .22long rifle and a .22 magnum...I think the magnum may be ok - very light under 10 oz. and 7 or 8 shots of .22 magnum is no slouch.

Any snubbie may be too tough recoilwise.

How about a S&W model 36 with a 3" barrel? All steel construction so there's a little heft to reduce recoil. The 'J' frame size makes it quite concealable, and the 3" barrel gives a slight edge over a snubbie as far as accuracy. My wife is a little gal with small hands and she loves hers. Of course she mostly shoots light target loads, but this revolver will also handle Plus P's.

If you have not already done so, check out packing.org to see what your state's laws are on carrying in a hospital/medical facility. If it is illegal, it should also tell you what the penalties would be if your daughter "forgets" and carries anyway. As many will say, sometimes it is "better to be judged by twelve than carried by six."

My wife is considering getting her CCW. She'll try out my S&W 642 to see how she does with it. For me, the recoil isn't too bad but she may not like it. If that's the case, she does have her eye on a Beretta Bobcat semi auto in .22LR. The thing she likes about them is that they have a tip-up barrel that you can load a round into, then you insert the magazine and flip the saftey "on". If it ever has to be used, all she has to do is remember to flip the saftey to "off" and pull the trigger: the first pull is DA and all following are SA. It may be worth a look.

Like has been said by others here, provide guidance and training to your daughter, but let her make the final decision for what is right for her.

Smith 442 or 642 in 38spl

Agree with the above post on the Smith 442/642 in 38 Special. Put a decent set of after market grips on it and no real kick to speak of. She only needs a 38 special. A 357 magnum is too much, but, you can shoot 38 Special from a 357 so that will work too. Ammo: Remington 135 grain JHP. Corbon 110 grain DPX. Buffalo Bore 158 grain LSWHC.

Would a Kramer Confidant shirt holster work? There are two pockets. One on either side to carry the gun and one to carry spare ammo. One could reach through and pull the low neck scrub or shirt down low enough to get the firearm out. There may be another way to access the firearm with this holster shirt combo. Hackathorn rip or other ways. Reason for mentioning this is on other threads on this matter several posters included this. And they were medical pros. Just passing this on.
