The only thing I know is that it's called slapping the trigger, and that's from an old hunting-manual type booklet. Search engine doesn't bring much up (except for bad AKs).

What is a good habit to get into with shotgun trigger pull?

I think you are referring to how most shotgunners pull the trigger. When the gun is moving after a bird or clay target you can't settle in and slowly squeeze the trigger like you would a rifle or pistol, you have to quickly pull the trigger or some people refer to it as 'slapping' the trigger. If you are using a shotgun to pattern with slugs or buck then you are back into the camp that squeezes the trigger because you aren't going after a quick moving bird that only gives you 1 or 2 seconds to shoot before it is gone.

When you have very little time to get on the target and hit it, it is indeed like a slap.

he probibly ment that since the 3'' kicks so hard, a shooter will flinch as he pulls the trigger expecting the boom.

remember. in almost all shooting, you want the boom to surprise you. you should be so focused on aim, and slow SQUEEZE that the boom surprises you
