I think I might be a little like the OP...I like "odd duck" cartridges and would love a swift.

Personally if you are looking at something like that you want it because....well....it is swift. Why down load it....if you are doing that just get a 223 and be done with it. You want a swift because is will haul butt.

And yea I agree they are not that common

Savage M12. They really are almost boringly accurate and the value for money is solid. As to cartridge, being in Utah, you have genuine need for a very flat shooting, high velocity cartridge. The 22-250 gives you regular access to loaded ammo if you need it, but you want the 220 Swift, so indulge yourself.

a 223 with a fast twist and 75-80 bullets will outshoot a slow twist 220 swift or 22-250 after 400 yds. I bought a 22-250 barrel 1x8 twist put it on a ruger target rifle for 75-80 grain A max bullets. if you have access to long range shots that is the way to go

Plus one on the comments about Ruger No. 1 accuracy. From what I've seen the odds of getting one that shoots 1.5 MOA are much greater than getting one that shoots .75 MOA or better.

I love Ruger No. 1s. My favorite varmint, deer hunting rifle is a Ruger No. 1 V, .22-250, bull barrel, kill everything from hogs to deer with it, tack driver....and most of all a beautiful Ruger No. 1, then again Savage makes some great rifles.
