Hey guys, I have a churchill highlander bolt action rifle chambered in 300 win mag. made by Sabatti. I bought this rifle when I was in high school. I had the stock refinished and added a 26 inch ported barrel to it. Anyway, the stock cracked and I picked up a new, unfinished stock for it. My question to you is, should I have a gunsmith finish the stock and glass bed and pillar bed the rifle, or is it just not worth the cost? I don't have money to throw around, so it is an object.

If you want to finish the stock, that one thing, but I would let a gunsmith fit the stock for accuracy.

I may read up on this and try it myself. I have refinished stocks and rust bluing, but never tried inletting and bedding. I think all the work that needs done would cost probably more than half of a new rifle. Minor in letting to accommodate the heavier barrel, stock refinishing and bedding will probably run me over 300 dollars. The smith hasn't given me an estimate because he is an hour away and haven't had time to get out that way. Anyway, thanks for the advice.
