The factory adjustables have the shields on the sides.

I purchased the fixed thinking they would hit POI okay but that proved wrong. Mine seem to be low and to the right which only adjustables will correct. Probably should have got the factory adjustable style since I had a choice then.

I about have my setup pieced together. For the rear this one is an all black full adjustable rear that according to description fits with no machining:

Bought here:

And since I like a fiber front speaking with Dawson on the phone this one will fit:

The height is perfect at .135" matching the factory front height. Only issue is possible the width. It says .100" wide and the stock piece is .125". I'm calling Midway to see if they have a cut dimension for that rear sight. If it is .125" cut on the rear I don't know if this will be an issue or not. The factory rear measured .125".

Just in case anyone in the future tries to get this combo together. The rear in-fact is a drop-in. The Dawson front I had to do a custom order which added $10 to the cost. The reason being the stock front sight measures .140" tall and .125" wide. Neither of the two listed are perfect so it's a cross between the two .135" tall and .125" wide. Being that my 1006 was shooting low with the stockers this should about zero it better with less adjustment on the rear sight. I will post up some pictures when they are on.

I believe all the 3rd generation rear sight cuts are the same dimensions. You can look on Smith's website but it appeared to me the only difference is in the size of the front sights so pretty much any adjustable sight you find for one of them should fit yours. I recently installed a 10-8 Performance rear sight on my 3913 and it is worlds better than the factory sight.

That's the rear sight right? LPA makes several to replace the rear sight and all are good units. The one I listed is about perfect IMO. Dawson called me back and said let's put a hold on the front. Get the rear on and try zeroing with the stock front and build the front sight based off that since it will give us data. I imagine it will still be what was laid out since things shouldn't change.
