I picked up an H&R HandiRifle in .45 Colt from a friend... it's about as much fun shooting as you can have with your clothes on (or thereabouts.) While the stock open sights are actually pretty good, my eyes are not... and I'd rather have some sort of peep setup, like most all of my other rifles have.

Williams made the FP and FP-TK sights for the H&R... but they are no longer in production. My usual online haunts don't show any availability, and even one online shot in the dark (who said they were 'in stock' ) turned bust.

Besides lucking onto a Williams at a gun show, or some dusty corner of a LGS, are there any other aftermarket iron sights that work with the H&R? I'd like to shoot this at distance, eventually, so some amount of elevation would be nice, but just having something basic I can use that would be better than the buckhorn would be a good start.

Edit: I am aware of the Skinner sight, I'm not a big fan of it, although I'll acknowledge it's a good sight for what it is. In the end I may wind up there, anyway...

Thanks!

A tang sight is always an option.

I assume the rifle you refer to is a classic carbine with a straight grip. The tang sight would work really well on that setup.

I looked at it in that regard as well... the only problem I see with that is there is really no tang to secure a sight base into, besides the wood of the stock.
