Hey all. I'm looking for a list of companies that make stocks for the Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308. I've seen quite a few pictures of several members here who put aftermarket stocks on their rifles. I really like the AI stock but dont where to purchase one from and would like to know if there are any other companies that make stock's for this rifle. If you could post a description of how you like the stock, how hard it is to install and if there any modifications you have to do to make it work. Thanks.

For the money maybe this from www.stockysstocks.com

I'm not into the tactical look, or extreme weight of these stocks. I have one of the FN patrol rifles and couldn't wait to lose the 3 lb Hogue stock that came on it. I had one of these http://www.stockysstocks.com/servlet/the-459/Bell-and-Carlson-Browning/Detail that I took off a Winchester EW rifle that was a near perfect fit on the FN. I had to open up the barrel channel a bit to accomodate the heavier barrel.

By going to the sporter stock it cut the rifles weight by 1.5 lbs with no loss of accuracy. It was over 10.5 lbs all up in the Hogue and not something I'd ever hunt with. It is now right around 9 lbs. and under the right conditions something I'd carry in the field. It was strictly a range toy before.

HS-Precision, McMillan and several others make quality stocks, but no where near the $220 or so one of these will cost. The B&C stocks are a lot heavier than I like on a hunting rifle, but about right on the tactical rifles.
