TEXAS!
Great shape, little wear. Flash chrome hammer and trigger.

It's a 649-2.

$378, tax included. Sitting on desk beside me now!

I'll shoot it in a day or so and let you guys know how she does.

I have the 640 .38 and 60 also .38, and both with chrome hammers and trigger.

Yes I'm a J frame junkie (and a real fool for K frame snubs!)

Got an original 49. Now that we have concealed carry it is one of my favorite companions. Wolfe spring kit, hogues and ready to go.

Well the camera's batteries are all dead!

But.. charging one now.

The 649-2 I have has a regular hammer WITH a firing pin on the hammer.

The 640, no dash, as a frame mounted firing pin.

Both have flash chromed triggers (and the 649-2 has a flash chromed hammer, looks like a s&w 60 hammer.)

Both have 7 digit serial numbers staring with B (BPC and BNP.)

And now both have Secret Service Stocks.

The 60 is a older one with a thin front sight.

Anywhoo.. later photos.

Mine is .357 but I usually load it with .38 spl. +P. The little gun is remarkably accurate. Feel sure you will like yours.

Here is a couple. The 640 and 649 I just picked up. Both with Secret Service stocks.

And here is my original 640 I used for CCW when CHL first came out (with red insert front sight) along with my 640-1 .357 that I installed a flash chromed trigger (no MIM and no child lock!)

First night -- first blood... well, almost!

The seller of my S&W 649 (.38 Spl) bought it to my office and that evening just before leaving for home I captured an auto thief that was inside my vehicle using it! :)

I was treated very poorly by the uniform officers... seems like they don't like "civillians" doing their job, even if they are an honorably retired LEO. :fire: The detectives were a lot more appreiciative.

I prefer my S&W 640 (.357) when I choose to carry a snub revolver, so I put a Crimson Trace DS laser grip on the 649 and gave it to my wife. She loves it. Life is sooo much better when mamma is happy! :D

Congrats.

I have an older 649 BG myself. Aside from the narrow front sight blade & rear notch, it's always been a dandy little J. I came close to getting rid of it back in the 90's, but instead just stuffed it away in the safe.

I was very glad I'd kept it once my interest in J's was reawakened. ;)

Yea FB, I won't get rid of these...

But if I ever end up in a rest home I'll sneak in a J for my own protection (I intend on dying with my boots on and one hand on a wheelgun and my other hand on my keyboard though.)

I few years back I was looking for a M649 for a good long time. When a Special Order M640 came along i bought it instead of continuing to look for the M649. That M640 is scary accurate and a great revolver but to tell the truth I wish I would have found a M649 first. You have 2 great looking revolvers there!
