Nice looking rifle, bro, and don't short-change your photography skills, they came out fine . What is that ? It looks like a Romy. I'm fairly sure the
"1985" is exactly what it looks like : A date.
I have one that says 1972,IIRC.
Yopu know, you can really pretty that foregrip up a bunch with some sandpaper, steel wool, and some Minwax Sedona Red stain, followed by a couple coats of Minwax polycrylic. Really makes the ladies swoon !!
That is the date of the trunion. It should also inticate the date of mfg for the other parts as well if the numbers match. The rifle would have been assembled on a new reciever, with a new trigger group. the triangle and arrow indicate a military parts kit (Or so I have read).
Looks really good. I had a chance to get a pretty solid underfolder...she's the one that got away...*sigh*
You should look into putting a tech sight on it. $110 or so dollars nearly doubles your sight radius, holds a zero when being banged around and removed and put back on. Not to mention it gives your AK a very distinct look that will turn even more heads.
I have no problem getting a solid cheek weld with my yugo underfolder. Just make sure the stock is nice and tight into your shoulder and its (for me) very comfortable to shoot.
i have't shot it yet, but i can tell you that a cheek weld is fine, plus.... this version doesn't have a sharp edge, the tube is very smooth. but i'll let you know for sure as soon as i shoot it.
good work on the wood. seeing that nice rifle mated with plastic mags makes me cringe though... mine shipped with the exact same polymer mags and they turned out to be total trash. my conscience wont let me resell them to some other poor soul. trash those junkers and stick to the metal ones.
i see in your later pics your running metal mags. excellent. happy shooting
