Any ideas how to fix this? The pistol grip screw (I believe the one for a Magpul AK grip is stuck in there. No screwdriver I have tried even moves it at all, it just starting to wear it down on the edges.

I am going to try to heat it up with a heat gun shortly.

Heating up the screw will only expand the screw causing It to get more stuck.....you need to heat up the nut inside the receiver

Cut the grip down so you can access the screw head. Then either cut a new slot in the screw or grind the head off.

Once the grip is off you can pull the remains of the screw and nut out through the top of the receiver.

I'm not completely sure I understand your problem.

Are the threads stripped or is the screw stuck?

Assuming that the screw is stuck, I'd try putting some Kroil on the threads and giving it a little time to work before you try to remove the screw.

Second thing I'd try is using an impact screwdriver.

Next would be dimpling the center of the screw head then using a drill bit to remove the head of the screw. That should allow you to remove the grip which will give you access to the screw shank and allow you to remove it with vice grips.

The most important thing is to not get frustrated and impatient. Sometimes it's best to just step back from the problem and concentrate on something else for a while.

Single minded determination (I've got to fix it NOW) has occasionally caused me to turn fairly minor problems into big ones. :uhoh:

It wasn't on the same screw your dealing with, but with soft metal, I usually provide some support to the opposite side, then I use a real sharp chisel the correct width to re-groove the screw head. Then once the chisel has cut into the screw head pretty deep, use it as your driver. Just make certain you support the opposite side of the screw against something solid, maybe center a ball bearing against the opposite side, put a tiny amount of super glue on the ball bearing to hold it in place so it can be solidly supported against the anvil, other wise you'll severely damage the threads.

You can also try grooving it to accept a phillips head screw driver, that would provide a little more support while trying to loosen it.

This method may not work if you have no way of supporting the opposite end of the screw.
