AKs and Uzis

What is with the apparent gun grabber obsesssion with keeping "AKs and Uzis off the streets"?

It hardly seems like they care about M16s, Tec-9s, etc... Just AKs and Uzis.

Are they the most recognizable to a non-gunner?

BTW, this is a serious question. I am curious as to if there is a reason those two are mentioned almost solely.

It's a stereotype. If you say "AK's and Uzi's" most everyone, even Joe and Jane Soccer know what you're talking about. If you said "FN FAL's and MP-5's" an awful lot of people will say "Whut'chu talkin' about?"

It all depends on what your definition of "is", is.

An AK "is" any gun hemd with two hands.

An uzi "is" any gun held with one hand.


Once you understand their language, you get to the whole point:

That's for sure. I've had folks call my Ruger 10/22 and my SKS an AK, even with the AK laying beside them. Virtually no one can ID my Uzi, but they call my M11/9 one. Thanks to tons of cop TV shows and movies, more and more folks can name the MP5.

If your gun is an oozie, you probably over lubricated it. And the phrase "boozie with oozies", really puts a gross picture in my head, and it has nothing to do with a gun

If I walked around DC with a sign that said "Blacks & crack don't mix" you can be damn sure the liberal media would be all over it. I own guns, if I had the chance to own an Uzi I would jump at it.
