Alabama House Bill 2

According to my contact from Rep. Greeson's office, Senator Lowell Barron is keeping the Bill from coming to a special order vote because of the UAH shooting. Never mind the fact that Amy Bishop used a handgun.

Anyway, please call and write Senator Barron (be civil, but firm) and let him know your feelings on the issue:

Senator Lowell Barron
Room 729-B
11 S. Union Street
Montgomery, AL 36130
(334) 242-7858

Maybe a dumb question, but what exactly does one say when they call a representative? I've written letters before, but I have a feeling that reading what I would send in a letter over the phone would be over the top.

Do I ask to speak with Lowell Barron? Or do I just say I'm calling to express my support for HB2?

I called Senator Barron, and left a message with his admin assistant, and asked her to give it to him. I gave her my phone number, and asked for a call back with his response. I suggest that you do the same, as it would make your call less easy to ignore.

No, DeepSouth posted that this bill would be heard tomorrow. I then replied that I didn't think the Senate was meeting 3 days this week. By the time I posted, he had deleted the post and posted it instead in the HB 364 thread (Employee Parking Bill).

We can put our tinfoil hats back in the closet for another day.

I have called Barron approx. 5 times since the bill passed his committee, left my number asking him to please return my call , talked to his staff members each time and get the same runaround every time. I'm getting ready to send him an email but seriously doubt if he'll ever see it or read it. That's what his staff is for and I believe they decide whether or not he gets the emails
If this bill does'nt get brought up to a vote during this session, I hope there's enough outrage among Alabama gunowners that want this bill passed , to form a campaign to defeat him this Nov. This is the only thing they understand once they've acquired an incumbent status.
Sen. Barron is serving his 7th term and they're ALL up for re-election this Nov.

I'm from Senator Barron's district. I've never voted for him but for some reason he keeps getting re-elected:confused:

He usually doesn't respond to anything unless it's one of his 'pet' projects.

Co-worker: "Senator Barron is great. He gets a lot of tax money distributed back for our county."

Me: "Hey, here's a novel idea: How about we keep our tax money here in the first place."

Co-worker: blank stare...

All right, Sen. Barron's Admin Assistant claimed she would speak to Barron about this issue and give me an answer Friday afternoon.

Let's all call again and remind them how much we want this to be voted on, okay? I don't want this thing to die again for lack of effort on our part. If it doesn't work, at least we will know who to blame...

The admin assistant's name that you will probably get is Louise, and the number is (334) 242-7858 . Please call.

I've been lurking watching this and hoping ( I live in FL and am moving to AL ) Wrote an email with no response, will give a call tomorrow.

She tells everyone that, It does no good at all to call because he will dodge the call and she probably does'nt even give him the messages because she knows he does'nt want to hear it.
I'm not even sure the emails will get thru to him.
Here are 3 email addresses for him that I got thru my Sen. I assume one or two of them might be Louise .

[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]

He also suggested to include the phrase "Let the Senators Vote" in your email because Barron uses it all the time when he's debating a bill he wants.
Lets flood him with emails every day from here on out. They are all out this week but will resume next week as far as I know.
Don't let up on him and if you have a Sen. from your district that will support the bill, ask them if they can do anything or suggest something to bring it up for a vote. I think we have till around the middle of April in this session.

Cheers..................

I just re-sent my email from last week to all of those addresses, I will do the same again in a few days if I don't get a response.

Got this from NRA:
The Alabama House Commerce Committee heard Senate Bill 360 (the companion bill to House Bill 364) today, Wednesday, March 24. The Committee took a voice vote to carry over the bill. SB360 is unlikely to be heard again before the end of the session due to the upcoming discussions on the state budget. Thus, this bill has ultimately died in committee.
More than likely the same fate awaits HB2 :fire:

Sen. Barron's secretary has told me several times that she would ask the Senator about his position, and then let me know what he said. She has never done so. I think it is reasonable to believe Sen. Lowell Barron is killing this bill. Every time I call now, I get sent straight to voice mail.

Senator Barron needs to lose his job.

This is exactly what he's doing. I doubt he ever gets the messages or the emails as he does'nt want to hear from any opposition.
I hope we can get some kind of organized opposition to him being re-elected this Nov. This is his 7th term and it's time for him and all other incumbents to go..................
He's also holding up SB233 from being put on the calender. This is not acceptable folks. Career politicians think they can just do as they please with no consequences as evidenced by the US congress and Senates current methods of passing legislation. Throw em ALL out, THIS YEAR !!!!!
